"When we pulled into the parking lot, it smelled like a dead animal and was filthy. We had to pay $48/night for parking. We waited in a very long line to check in. The hotel room door had been sealed to indicate that the room had been sanitized. We believed this to mean that the hotel had taken extra measures to ensure our health and safety during the COVID pandemic. In the bathroom, there was dirt and a hair on the toilet, a ton of hair on the floor, and dirt on the countertop. We noticed make-up stains on the pillows. I called the front desk, and after several tries, I got in contact with someone who said they would send someone up to “refresh” the room. Nobody arrived. I went downstairs to go to the front desk, but the line was twice as long as earlier. I spoke to the security guard and his manager. The security manager spoke to someone about cleaning our room while we went out. The room had been cleaned when we returned, but I still found a fake nail on the floor by the bed. The next morning, after my shower, I grabbed a towel from the shelf that not only smelled musty, but had make up stains on it. Fortunately, there were other clean towels. We specifically chose the Hilton for its reputation as having a high quality standard of service. I have stayed in the Hilton in NY and found the rooms to be clean and the beds to be very comfortable. We were looking for a getaway and to treat ourselves. This was anything but a treat.
