If you need basic shelter then this is the place for you. If you are given a room in the "2" building be prepared for cigarette and weed smoke. I couldn't bear it. The pics on here don't show that most of the rooms are adjoining. Be prepared to hear your next door neighbors talk and watch TV all night if they choose to do so. I had to switch rooms as I couldn't deal with the noise and weed smoking. I found Building "1" was cleaner and noticed no-smoking signs on the doors. My room in this building was better. I noticed areas in the kitchen and bathroom which were not cleaned properly. There was a spot of something which had spilled in the kitchen, and I saw hair on a shelf in the bathroom. This hotel is less than five minutes from the mall and there are plenty of restaurants close by. I think I would book elsewhere and pay a bit more to avoid noise from adjoining rooms and the smell of weed. As I said, Building "2" was really grungy. The lady at the front desk wasn't too thrilled when I requested to switch rooms, but the customer is always right.

Hotel Stay

The hotel was run down on the inside. Nothing like the pictures online. The air conditioner was humming loudly all night. The residence and staff were hanging outside in front of the hotel. My family and I didn't feel safe. We worried all night about our vehicle since it was packed with my son's college items. It wasn't a pleasant stay! Very disappointed!

The refrigerator wasn't working when we got there (late evening) It was all frozen up. I reported it as we went out in the am When I got back that evening it was unfrozen and unplugged. I plugged it in and it started working but in the morning it was still warmer than the room air. I did not report it again as my food was all spoiled by then and it wasn't worth it. I did mention it when I left. The other problem was that I could never call the desk. No one would answer and no machine picked up. Also Sun am when we left the trash room was overflowing into the hall. the room was clean and the bed comfortable and the air worked well. No microwave, no waste cans in the room and the lights were not very bright. I wish that it was made clear in the hotel info that you have to purchase kitchen equipment.

ROACH MOTEL

Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Everything.
I arrive and things start out bad as I'm informed there is no breakfast. Things got worse quickly when I got off the elevator and saw the carpet in the hallway. It has never been replaced and is covered in stains. But the straw that broke the camel's back was when my girlfriend got up in the middle of the night to get water from the fridge and was met with several roaches that were also up and hungry. We immediately packed our bags and left. Summary: AVOID THIS DUMP AT ALL COSTS.

Room was very disappointing to say the least

First clue to what was in store is that the lock bar on the door to building was halfway torn off the door. Non-smoking room reeked of smoke, carpets were filthy, not vacuumed. No extras in room except towels and toilet paper. We turned around and went right back to office and got our money back.

What an ordeal

I made reservations a month on advance. Paid 308.00 for the room I had reserved and when I arrived at this Hotel the office was closed and dark. There was a note on the door saying that all reservations had been cancelled and to contact your booking agent in order to make new accomodations!!! We drove around for nearly an hour trying to find a room when we discovered a Quality Inn with one vacancy They were extremely pleasant and helpful. I have not received a response from Travelocity nor have I received anything from this Hotel. Guess I am out the money but Home Towne Suites of Columbia is off my list forever. What a scam

Unpleasant Experience...very disappointing.

Pros: Great location
Cons: Employees obviously need more supervision and their work followed up on. And mgmt obviously needs to do more managing.
Location: Great location, great restaurants in the area. And a Nice mall.
First issue when I arrived to check in there was a note on the counter that system was down they will return shortly. I waited 10 mins no one returned. I left for 20 mins and returned to find some guy in the lobby on his phone and advised someone from the front desk was checking another person in and will return shortly. I waited approx 15 mins. A guy showed up and went behind the counter to check me in. Someone from the back office yelled up front to say something to him and he told them he had to go home for a minute which is why he wasn't at the front desk. I go to my room had to have assistance to open the door to the room basically had to kick it to get it open. Then the swing lock on the door was broken. I requested NON smoking and clearly the room had been smoked in...nasty. Floors hadn't been vacuumed, found candy and other items on the floor. No silverware in the kitchen. Condiment basket completely empty. And most importantly no bedspread or blanket on the bed. Then when i go to leave the next morning...once again the door was jammed and unable to open it for several minutes. Now I return back to my office and getting ready to turn in my expense reports with my accounting dept and I realize the payment used to check me in was apparently someone else's credit or debit card. I paid my reservation through Travelocity and made the gentleman aware of this at the time of check in. I also told him I didn't use a Mastercard for pay
