Paid too expensive, tiny area space, after dark had to turn off the lights, otherwise, people are seeing inside the room.

The facilities are a little outdated but very nostalgic. The Chalet had a retro feeling and the stay was quite comfortable and enjoyable.

This was our favorite place to stay on our Black Hills trip. Really quaint old “motor inn” in the original sense of the word. Very well priced and friendly. Our room was still to be updated with a very cramped bathtub and toilet room, but a spacious sink. Good frig, plenty of room. Good coffee, muffins, yogurt in morning. The surprise for us is the expertise of the owner who had a high level job with a big national hotel chain before buying her own place. The town of Custer is really fun. Good dining, local museum, great grocery store. Great location for your Black Hills (and before or after Yellowstone) adventures. We met many interesting guests here (because we enjoy these interactions; you can easily keep to yourself), including from Canada and England.

This is the greatest group of people I have ever dealt with. During my stay, I hit a deer and destroyed my rental car. One of the staff actually gave me a ride back to the airport to get another rental car. That is the very definition of going above and beyond.
