Marshall Islands Hotel Travel Guide\n

You'll be really, truly away from it all at Marshall Islands resorts. This island country in the Pacific, about halfway between Hawaii and Australia, includes more than 1,000 islands and islets making up its 29 coral atolls. The nation is a vast smattering of tiny landmasses, but only a handful are equipped for visitors. You'll fly into Majuro Atoll, where you can stay put to enjoy the best resorts in the Marshall Islands, or you might venture to renowned diving and sport fishing spots throughout the more remote parts of the archipelago.

Visiting the Marshall Islands

Majuro Atoll, some 64 islands surrounding a lagoon, is home to the nation's capital, the widest range of Marshall Islands hotels, and the international airport. In the capital, Delap-Uliga Djarrit, visit the Alele Museum to see exhibits showcasing early Marshallese culture. Artifacts include shell tools and stick charts depicting wave patterns that were used for ancient ocean navigation. Also in Majuro Atoll is Laura, an island town that, at 10 feet above sea level, is the highest point in the atoll and features quiet, white-sand beaches and a shallow reef that makes an excellent snorkeling spot.

The closest neighbor of Majuro is Arno Atoll and its 133 islands, which are served by public taxi boats and include the deep-sea fishing hub of Longar Point. Departing boats take you in search of mahi-mahi and yellow fin tuna, while the town of Jabor in Jaluit Atoll is another base for sport fishing. The Marshall Islands' only UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bikini Atoll, was off-limits to visitors from the 1940s, when it was used as a nuclear test site, until it opened for scuba diving in the mid-1990s. Diving trips there are pricey and highly regulated, but with unmatched visibility and marine life undisturbed for decades, Bikini Atoll is considered one of the top diving locations in the world.

With Travelocity you can search over 400 airlines and more than 510,000 hotels worldwide, among them resorts in the Marshall Islands. If you're ready to explore this remote part of the Pacific, book Majuro vacation packages today.
