The young woman who checked us in had a very thick (no-Irish) accent and was hard for this American to understand. She was very kind and efficient. The concierge who helped us book our (430am!!) taxi to the airport was delightful! Our room was spacious and clean. The shower was TINY, but lots of hot water and water pressure. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would love to return.

This hotel needs a lot of updating. There are no exhaust fans in the bathrooms, so ours smelled very moldy. Also our shower did not have hot water, so we had to go to a different room to shower. The furniture is run down and the carpeting needs to be replaced. And don't expect top-notch service. There was no valet to greet us so we had to carry our own luggage. We were told there was a free shuttle to the airport, but that is no longer offered. There is no concierge, only front desk staff, and they were far too busy. For the price we paid, I would stay at a different hotel.

So nice we went back for seconds!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, friendly knowledeable staff
My husband and I made our first trip to Dublin in January and had such fun we went back a week later. We so enjoyed the Brooks Hotel that we stayed there both times. The staff, like all Irish people we met, were extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The hotel itself is in an excellent location and was very lovely. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable. The only tiny little thing that could have been improved is if there were more electrical outlets (particularly in the bathroom), and a working fan in the bathroom as well. However, I suspect these are issues related to the age of the building and would probably be encountered in many other hotels as well. We walked pretty much everywhere (Dublin is quite compact as it is), but we especially appreciated the Brooks's proximity to Grafton Street, Temple Bar, cultural points of interest, restaurants, and pubs. Our "local," The Hairy Lemon, was very good too-- their traditional Irish food is superb and it was very nice having such a fun and friendly pub just steps from our hotel. We would definitely return to the Brooks in the future.

An excellent business class hotel in the centre of Dublin

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
This hotel punches above its weight. The rooms are extremely comfortable, and the service is pleasant and personable. The bar/lounge area is quiet and intimate - suitable for business meetings or a more romantic occasion. The bar specializes in whiskies - not only Irish - and has won awards for its selection. The food in the restaurant is excellent, much of it locally-sourced, and there are enough reasonably priced options on the winelist that the bill does not shock.
