Convenient and clean.
The bedrooms in this property are functional as are the bathrooms. However, bathrooms are very dated & could do with a facelift.
The room amenities are as expected. Kettle (with small amount of limescale) teas/coffees (lovely hot chocolate) & some standard rather dull biscuits; but it is the thought that counts. A missed opportunity here not offering local [Scottish] fare.
Small, but scrupulously clean, bed. In this day & age when we are all so used to Kingsize, suddenly encountering a "double" is a shock and makes it seem even smaller. The room could easily take a Kingsize.
The shower pressure was decent, but the cubicle was again quite small (albeit standard size). If one was larger, it would have been a struggle.
The breakfast on this occasion was not as good as during previous visits (when it had been fabulous). Some of the items on the hot buffet appeared to have been there too long & dried out (particularly the bacon and haggis) & the fried eggs were congealed. Requests for new eggs were met with reluctance.
The breakfast staff were not entirely interested in assisting guests proactively. I observed that questions & requests were met with rather sullen responses & disinclination.
A member of staff (manager or owner?) was lounging on a sofa adjacent to the bar during check-in (late evening) & again on check-out (mid morning). This made one feel slightly uneasy & scrutinised, or perhaps they do not entirely trust their staff.
