We love the location of this hotel. It is close to the Royal Mile and yet away from the hustle and bustle. We stayed here several years ago as part of a tour and when we decided to visit Scotland again, we started here. Remodeling made some nice changes, but we were disappointed in the menu at the "new" restaurant and bar. Concierge and front desk services are wonderful!

Overall, a very good hotel. Clean and comfortable room. Situated close to one end of the Royal Mile. A bit pricey.

This is my second stay at a MacDonald Hotel – stayed at the MacDonald Manchester in March of this year – and I was impressed, again, by the luxury of the accommodations. A minor problem with the bathroom not being cleaned properly was taken care of post haste, but otherwise I was well pleased. The staff was excellent, especially Kelly & Don at the front desk. Very enjoyable – would stay here again. One minor note - the MacDonald website did not respond to my questions & requests - ever!
