The grounds were beautiful, the pool are was great. They provided a lot of shaded areas. We had an on going plumbing problem in our bathroom. The tub filled up while taking a shower and we told them about it twice but it never got resolved.

Nice overall for the cost. The exterior is nice. The rooms are outdated, water pressure is low and goes to zero at times. We booked and paid for two beds and they wouldn’t confirm that ahead of time. The food was okay.

The property was well maintained. Employees were very friendly. There was always a variety of food. The one thing I didn't like was the racoons that came out after dark and weren't afraid of people. I believe there should be some animal control for that.

We have been to several Riu’s and are typically big fans! However, this one was very disappointing from the moment we arrived. No one was asked if we needed help with our luggage. When we arrived, the sports bar was open. They had a fridge of snacks that looked worse than any gas station. It looked like that the entire time. The resort is extremely outdated in comparison to other Riu’s. The breakfast buffet opens at 7 & closes at 10. There were very few servers working for tips so most of the time you had to get your own waters/coffee. There weren’t any servers on the beach asking if you wanted a drink & the pool didn’t open until 10. I’ve never seen that at an “all inclusive resort.” I never found an air dryer that worked, all the bathrooms had a sewer smell that resembled a bad perm. People were complaining about it constantly. No one cleans the chairs on the beach. They were filthy. The gym was nice, but the a/c didn’t work. The Riu app wasn’t updated so restaurants that showed they were open really weren’t & the gym hours were incorrect too. As for our room-our shower head & TV remote didn’t work. (They did replace both right away.) The ventilation was terrible from the sewer (maybe sulfur) smell. We eventually asked the cleaning service to not use the chemicals to clean. The guests were super nice which was a bonus & the food was average. Overall, this was the worst Riu we have stayed at. We wont be back, but we will go to another resort in Costa Rica. PURA VIDA!
