The Erastus Corning Room: Private bedroom + full bath near downtown Corning, NY

"The Erastus Room" pays homage to Erastus Corning, a financier and railroad executive who helped develop the city of Corning in the early 1800s. Erastus actually owned this home about 200 years ago. The city is best known as the headquarters of Fortune 500 company Corning Incorporated, formerly Corning Glass Works, a manufacturer of glass and ceramic products for industrial, scientific and technical uses.

The world-renowned Corning Museum of Glass is a half-mile walk across a pedestrian bridge that spans the scenic Chemung River.

The (private) Erastus Bedroom and attached bathroom are accessible from the front door, and through the (shared) Living Room and Fireplace Room. Guests may also use the (shared) Corner Office, Dining Room and Kitchen. The home's family lives on the second floor.

Our corner of Corning's historic Southside Neighborhood lies just two blocks away from Market Street's abundant dining and shopping experiences! We're across the parkway from the Civic Center, which houses the public library, police station and ice skating rink. A recently-renovated city park (along the Chemung River) lies just two blocks north. Denison Park is within a mile, and features a public swimming pool, Little League Baseball Field, playgrounds and pavilions.
Corning's Southside Neighborhood features more than 400 homes within a nationally designated historic district on the southern hill that rises from the center of Corning. Visitors who stroll along the tree-lined streets will notice a variety of architectural styles: Federal, Greek Revival, Victorian and Craftsman, dating from the 1840s to the 1920s.

The Corning Transportation Center is just around the corner, with reliable service provided by Trailways, CoachUSA / Shortline, Corning Erwin Area Transit System, Steuben County Transit, and Chemung County Transit.
