Premium location with wonderful views around the neighborhood. Staff was helpful and friendly. The building is in need of repairs both inside and out. The bed was too high to get in and out of comfortably. The upstairs back entry did not lock properly.

No staff or security at night, I didn't feel safe

Pros: The location and interesting history.
Cons: Night time security. And hotel parking really isn't available because the staff of the restaurant blocks the entrance alley.
Location: It is right downtown in Benicia, close to restaurants and within walking distance to everything.
This hotel could be really charming and the location is wonderful. Unfortunately there is no staff working at night. They leave notes with the code for the door and the room keys on a table by the elevator. Any passer-by could read a note and get the key. Somehow they forgot I was arriving, and didn't leave a note or key for me, so the bartender next door managed to call a manager at home to come to the hotel to let me in. I wondered if someone may have picked up my key and was going to show up in my room later. The last night of my stay I was awakened around midnight by some drunk women who were apparently playing racketball or field hockey in the hallway, with shouts, profanity, body slams, etc. I had to get up at 6 AM to catch a flight. Ordinarily I would have called the front desk and asked them to send security up to quiet things down but with no night staff, I was on my own. I opened my door and called around the corner, "Ladies, could you please hold it down? I have an early flight in the morning." One of the women came to my door to confront me and try to engage me in conversation. Then her friend came storming up. I got scared and pushed the door closed. They called me obscene names, and proceded to scream obscenities in the hallway until some male guests came out to calm them down, and eventually they shut up. It was scary. With no night time staff, your only option is to handle things yourself or call the cops.

Very disappointing

Pros: ?
Cons: Demolish it and rebuild.
Location: It's a great location in Old Town Benicia, and there's a killer sushi place nearby.
TV was about the size of a laptop and didn't worked. Windows had blinds and curtains, but the blinds didn't worked. Furnishings looked like they came from a garage sale. We felt hesitant writing about the staff because we never saw one staff member. To get in the door, we found a envelope with our name taped to the front window. The elevator barely worked. The continental breakfast consisted of a bowl of grapes, unrefrigerated cheese sticks, fruit bars, and Famous Amos bagged cookies. There was no parking for hotel guests. However, we can't stress this enough. There was no hotel staff to greet us, check us in, or send us off. We dropped the key in a drop box to check out for the lack of staff. More than likely, the Union Hotel is haunted.
