Light was not working ..not enough towels and washcloths .. ice machine did not work .. was not allowed to dine at diner where you have to check in ..no shower curtain in shower .. I feel I should be reimbursed for the bad experience!!

Penny Dinner where you check in and eat was the pits. Service was bad and the food was the same.

The check-in was horrible. They had no idea who or what Travelocity was at check-in. They had to call the manager and I had to wait for the manager to come in to get the clerk through the check-in process. They never at any time asked for any identification to verify my identity. Check out was the same nut roll. The clerk had no idea how to print out a "zeroed" out receipt for my records. She said "I can't print out your receipt because you paid with "Expedia"" (Of course I used Travelocity NOT Expedia). At that point, I didn't bother to argue. I just thanked them and left. Check-in/out was with the cashier in the diner across the parking lot from the hotel. ALSO, the check-in clerk gave a room key keyed to our room and assigned our room to another guest about 10 minutes after she gave us the room. Imagine my surprise (and his) when some stranger came barging into our room pulling his suitcase behind him. I had to go BACK to the clerk and have our keys re-coded so the person they gave a key to could not enter our room. What a nightmare.

I knew that I would have to check in at the Diner that is located on the same property as the hotel. What I didnt know is that I apparently had to check in prior to midnight despite me having paid for the full trip weeks in advance. I understand that things can go wrong but what I dont get is the disconnect and attitude from the staff. As other reviewers have posted, there is apparently only one person that can either check you in or out. I had to wait on this person to arrive only to be told that my reservation was cancelled since I didnt call or reach the hotel by midnight. Another problem was the fact that the same person tried to tell me that they called me to ask me whether I would be a no show or if I was in fact coming down to check in. I looked at Google Voice and Google Voice recorded the voicemail as having been left at 11:59 PM....one minute before their apparent midnight cutoff. Once again, I understand that there can be technical issues but if someone has literally paid for their entire stay weeks in advance, it doesnt matter when you show up. I have done this at different hotels at different chains and it has never been a problem. Couple this with the fact that I drove 8 hours to reach the hotel and for the staff to have a very "its your fault you didnt call us back" attitude doesnt earn any points in my book. Best part, when driving on I10, cell reception is lost at times. I would recommend to avoid this place unless you arrive on time or early.

Horrible, don't stay here

The room smelled awful and made our belongings smell, the bed had white stains all over the blanket, and everything was dirty. The extra blanket was balled up and thrown, they didn't even bother folding anything to give the illusion that they cared. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

Always a great stay

Pros: Great price
Cons: Air-conditioner fan
Location: Went rock hunting, visited Big Bend park, Davis Observatory, Balmahea (sp) state park, and saw Prong Horns outside of Marpha, did not observe any UFO
Have stayed here each of the last 3 years and each stay was always great, this trip no different. I only down graded the facilities because the room had a an air-conditioner fan that was failing and making noise through out the night. The noise was very slight, and after the first night it was not noticeable.

OK but not great!

The listing included a complementary breakfast at the diner next to the motel, however when we checked in we were informed that the breakfast did not apply to travel agency bookings, other than that the room was OK.
