The hotel said our reservation showed just one bed but I had two requested on my travelocity reservation. We were able to get two but I found that frustration. Hotel staff was inconsistently helpful /not helpful. Good choices were not great.

Excellent location for birding, both on-site and nearby. Rooms were clean, spacious and had an excellent view on the attached deck. Staff are quite helpful and friendly. Food was good at both the bar and restaurant. Very pleasant to have lunch on the outdoor deck overlooking the grounds. Enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend.

Pool area is nice; decor in lobby spectacular! Restaurant staff couldn’t be nicer!!! Balcony and view amazing!!! Dislikes: - There is mold and mildew in the room and bathroom. I have a slight cold and cough today. Since you are catering to so many older people this can be dangerous to one’s health - your tour and activities are disorganized; nobody knew where to stand or go for tours or walks; staff didn’t know either. Your tour guides were super nice but not very knowledgeable. - no decaf coffee in your little coffee shop across from gift store; what’s up with that? You are catering to older people who have high blood pressure!! - you did something really f——-d up....a couple was checked into the adjoining room to ours at about 11:30 pm. They woke us up and we could hear every word including the tv they had turned on. After calling the front desk twice they were moved to another room. Your staff should know better than do do this. - when we checked in the person at front desk said we could have lunch at the buffet and that it was included. When we went to go have lunch, we were told we would have to pay. Not good!!! - we have been here before on two other occasions over the past 10 years. The place appears to be in disrepair

Rainforest hotel

Pros: Rooms and gym was surprising well equipped.
Cons: Dining options and ambience . Although it's beautiful location something is missing.
Location: Tours, Panama Canal and miraflores locks.
This is our second time at this hotel. Rooms are large and very comfortable with a beautiful view of the river and rainforest. The hammock at the balcony is a plus . Dining options have improved but do not expect a high end resort quality or service. Staff was very nice and the tours and Panama Canal locks are definitely worth seeing.

This resort made us feel we were in a tourist trap.

Pros: Free breakfast, Quiet
Cons: Nothing close
We stayed three nights. The highlight of the resort is it's scenic view of the Chagras River. The breakfast buffet was nice but eating lunch & dinner we were overcharged for everything; example a lemonade w/too much ice was $4.00 & a local beer was $3.50., dinner @ Gamboa is $20x3=60$ at least for a couple. The food choices catered to Europeans & Canadians. There was no choice of Panama's traditional food. Furthermore, the tours were not more than an hour long - Aerial Tram, River Boat tour, Embera Indian Village tour which seemed staged.....when we returned from our tours there was the pool & not much else to do. There is "zero atmosphere". .Gamboa Resort provides no transportation off of their premises. To leave the resort one has to take a taxi that charges 80$ round trip. The Gamboa Resort is good for conventions, & weddings, maybe even a day trip, but not for people who want to experience the culture, food, music & most of all the friendly people of Panama.

Hotel personnel were very friendly and courteous

Pros: Quiet
Food was excellent. Great opportunity to visit native villages. Their villages and inhabitants have the same traditions as before the discovery of the New World.

One night only

Unless you can sit for hours identifying bird calls this is a one night thing. Hike around t yourself just up the canal you'll find a road to observation tower worth * $ but must take a car..at hotel aerial tour and night boat ride fill up g Fast but r worth it. Guest services terrible! Wait stAff rude! Pool nice but nothing else to do!! Discoteque closed! Food mediocre.

recent vacation

our first ever visit to gamboa rainforest resort was very enjoyable . the staff was exceptionally helpful from the front desk to the maintenance staff which was prompt and courteous in fixing a door handle. the grounds are pristine and the quiet ambience of the property with the variety of wildlife from birds to monkeys and the tours offered provide enough activity and then the relaxing hammock on the porch offered the getaway from it all experience that my wife and i thoroughly enjoyed and will again cause us a return trip.
