Cabin was clean and pleasant. Bathroom was very small, had to sit sidesaddle on toilet, but it worked. Ate at the restaurant and it was adequate, not yummy but palpable, and we were hungry! To be able to be feet from the canyon was fantastic!!

Weather couldn't be helped. It was freezing cold. But we got there at night and no one showed us to our room that was several buildings and several ice floes away. Being seniors, we were concerned as the place was slicker than greased lightning. But we accidentally left our keys at the desk and the man with the bright smiling hospitality mask on his face allowed us to go skating and sliding back to our room without a key which meant we still had to come back with bags to the front desk. Beneath the facade of cheerfulness was a person who was hospitality weary. Any other facility would have caught us at the door on the way out of the lobby and say, oh here, you forgot your key. It's cold outside. Don't want you to have to come back. But this man didn't care. We were so cold and miserable we left a day early. Yes bad weather, got it, can't be helped but the facility did nothing to remove ice on the stairs. I didn't get it. Yes, we're supposed to hike on rough terrain but we were so upset we didn't even go to the canyon wall. Cold miserable unhospitable night. In general, the staff seemed hospitality weary. Don't go to the Grand Canyon on a holiday weekend. Also It took two hours to get into the place because we were busy slip sliding around in the parking lot and because it took 50 minutes to get through the canyon entrance. Two hours to get in. No wonder I was so frazzled at the desk I forgot the keys. Did I mention we left early? One of us clearly cannot do ice hiking.
