I did see small ants in the room. And had a couple of bites. But it is tropical Hawaii and that can be a bit expected. The property was amazing. Pools were great. The grill and the bar was probably most affordable food. Buffet breakfast was not the best and way too expensive.

PROS: The property itself was GORGEOUS and well kept -- hardly a leaf out of place! Everywhere you looked on the property was picture perfect! They had a nice Keurig coffee maker in the room. Tram was running and we utilized it once. The boat that goes around the property was running and enjoyable, but only from about 2PM until 10PM I believe. CONS: The room itself had quite a few issues -- no microwave, a small and awful refrigerator that froze items and was missing parts to contain food/drinks. Shower handle would just fall off. Bathroom fan didn't work. This was in room 2305 of the Makai building. Then we had to manually request trash service, etc. which was sometimes done but not regularly. I don't need my sheets changed during a week-long stay, but taking out the trash and vacuuming should be done at least every other day without having to text to request that it be done. We had sand all over our bathroom floor for 5 days! Maybe at least provide a broom and dustpan so I could have swept the floor myself! No recycle bins on property--weird. LAUNDRY: Was told I needed a credit card for the laundry room, so that is what I brought. What they don't tell you is that you need cash for the soap, fabric softener liquid, and/or fabric softener sheets. Had to go back to room to get cash for that. Brought a $20 bill. That didn't work. The machine only accepts $1 bills (although that was not stated on the machine). Had to try to break $20 to get $1 bills. Super frustrating.

The grounds were beautiful, the rooms were clean, and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. I would have liked a few more dining options considering the grounds' size. Also, there was only one hot tub for the entire resort, which was under construction during my visit, so it would have been nice to see at least one other.

Outside was Beautiful as well as the surrounding area. Our room had cockroachs and so did the expensive 3 course meal. Wouldn't stay here again. We thought hilton had higher standards.

The bottom of my foot was cut by a piece of plastic in the pool. This ruined my vacation as I was walking in pain the whole time afterwards. I made a report with security regarding my injury. I don't think it was addressed promptly to ensure it doesn't happen again. Also, there was a noticeable staff shortage on the premises. Everything else was great in the resort.

Simply walk outside to smell the salt air and watch the ocean waves from the white sand beach. Spend the day at the beach and work on your tan with sun loungers (chaise longues) or relax in the shade with cabanas (surcharge).
