    Wow. Perfect home from home.

Tracey is a friendly, welcoming hostess- a brew and cake on arrival, wow. Very clean, quiet room, stunning location, great for walkers, cyclists and travellers. Delicious breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. Some walkers had wet gear which she managed to dry for them too. Went beyond expectations. Thank you Tracey.

Comfortable and welcoming B and B

Margaret was a delightfully friendly hostess. She was available to offer suggestions for evening meals as we discovered after the first night's delicious pie that she generally only takes bookings for dinner for those guests who are on a walking trip and have no personal transport. Shame this wasn't clear in her 'blurb'! We were walking but had a car so she explained she had made an exception when accepting our advance booking for the first evening's meal after our long day's drive to get there. Other evenings, we ate at the Black Bull in Corbridge, the Hadrian in Wall, the Indian restaurant (Sathi) in Hexham and the local pub recommended by Margaret. All were very good and mostly gave good choice of menu although the last was slightly more limited and not quite to the same standard as the others - but still quite ok. Walk from the house through Simonburn to Chesters ( but had to divert from planned route as fields too wet to get across the river!) and then across fields etc back ( 15 miles) one day. Managed to use facilities at Chesters without paying admission luckily! Another day, by car to Steel Rigg and then walked to Housesteads then across fields to Vindolandia ( be warned - must buy full admission ticket to use cafe and WC there). and then back to and along Hadrians Wall via Winfield Farm ( 13.5 miles) Superb views ! Minor point - small step on upstairs passageway needs a safety light as main light not always on and switch not easy to find upstairs in the dark.
