- Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities
The property is located in a short walk from the port. We arranged a check in time before arrival and thought the host will be there waiting and welcoming us. However it wasn’t the case. No one was answering the door. So we called up the host and someone turned up after waiting for 15 mins. Once the building door is opened, a dark, run down staircase is in front of us. It felt like you are about to enter a run down factory. The room is on the first floor with a small narrow window facing to internal area; which means you won’t get any fresh air from outside. It felt like you are staying at a shelter without knowing the day and night from the outside world. The person who opened the door for us, briefly explained how things work in the room and asked us to contact a number if we have any further questions or requests. Then he asked us for the city tax and utility charge €10. We were in shock as we travel a lot and this is the first time we were asked for utility charge. We checked our booking confirmation and realised the charge is mentioned in small writing. To be honest, we have no issue paying the extra but it would be better to include the charge in the booking price rather than charging separately. We felt cheated. The room is air conditioned, bedsheet is a bit smelly with hair. If location is all you want, then this maybe the place. But for sure there are many other options. Last thing to be aware, the path to town from the property might get flooded during high tides.
