Our stay in Ludlow, Aug. 2023 by Ruthie P.
The house was clean and neat. That being said, we did not stay the three nights we reserved it for, but left after the first night. We were told that we have use of the lake and that there are boats that we can use. However, even though we were told that the key to the boat shed will be available for us, it was not. We were also told that we can swim in the lake, however, when we got to Ludlow, we found out that due to the recent floods in that area the lake was not safe for swimming. We only rented that house because we were told that we have access to the lake! In fact, after we saw another review that complained about not getting the key to the boat shed we made sure to ask about it before we reserved, but we were still not given the right key. After we called Vacasa in the morning and told them that we need the key and we saw that they were not helping us we just left.

Great location close to Gore base of Okemo Ski Resort
This cabin is about 5 minutes drive from the Gore base of Okemo Ski resort. This base is less crowded than the clocktower base. The Gore base also has an ice skating ring and pool, which we enjoyed. Make sure to visit the Crowley Cheese factory, which is the oldest in continuous operation cheese factor in the United States, and possibly the world. The cabin is located on a gravel road that does NOT require 4x4. I enjoyed jogging on this gravel road. The lake is nearby and the kids enjoyed walking on the ice (with my supervision). The kitchen was well stocked. The upper bedrooms were perfect for a family with 2 kids. The only issue was the lock pad did not work because the power to it had gone off. We were able to enter the home by calling the emergency maintenance line and they gave us an access code to a physical key. We used the outdoor gas grill - it worked well. There is a shed where skis can be stored. The cabin was warm. We would definitely stay again and recommend this cabin to friends.

Okemo here we go!
I’m not sure they mention that you can see Okemo from the back door and driveway! It snowed while we were there and they plowed the driveway twice, and at 0 degrees the house was cozy. 8 min drive to Okemo and we had first lift on our first morning there.

Early
We were an houror so early and couldn’t get a hold of the local contact to see if we could get in early. Other than that it was a very nice property.

Cozy spot right near town
This house is a nice, cozy little spot good for a small group (4 is good, 6 would be tough). The kitchen was fully outfitted with decent equipment. Washer and Dryer. Good hot water. Plenty of clean towels. Pillows and sheets. The proximity to Okemo is great. It's a 5 min drive that you could walk if you really had to. The driveway and road into the neighborhood are very muddy though, so be careful in the thaw. There will no doubt be some treacherous potholes. Only one bathroom downstairs. Beds upstairs. Even though it can sleep 6 with the pull-out couch, that could get tough sharing the one bathroom. Overall this was a perfect spot for 3 dudes on a skiing and hiking weekend.

The cottage itself is very lovely, well turned out, and clean. The entryway keypad needs better lighting, or a picture of the actual key pad sent with the entry info. The pathway to the back door was very icy. Texted and spoke to management company. No one came out to take care of the ice. We wanted to have an evening drink of hot toddies on the dock, however, the path to it was completely blocked with snow. I understand that this is a rural area, however, usage of all areas should be safely available.

Fall getaway
Very difficult time operating entry system which was NOT among those pictured on your tutorial. Within 10 minutes of calling local managers we gained entry following his walking us through. Suggest a picture of the operative door mounted “ lock” be included in the welcome email. Once in we enjoyed our stay, appreciated how well the property is outfitted for house keeping, and how conveniently it’s located for day trips.
