Run down dirty condos

Pros: Ummm....not much really. It was fairly quiet, and close to the beach. But there really wasn't anything else within walking distance
Cons: Step 1 would be clean it! Everything, from the rooms to the common areas. Hire some more help; the ladies I spoke to in the laundry need it!
Location: It is close to the beach. But there really wasn't anything else within walking distance. The drive to Myrtle was longer than expected, over 30 minutes
It started off bad. We were late arrivals, but instead of the condo that sleeps 6 that we reserved, we were placed in a room with one double and 1 twin bed. Not even a couch large enough to sleep 1 person. They said there wasn't anything they could do about it, so I had to do a midnight run to WalMart to buy air mattresses. The room was filthy too! The pillow cases looked as if someone had used them to wipe makeup off. The sheets on the bed obviously were not changed. And it smelled! So, the next morning they did move me to another room. At least this one was clean, if more than a bit dated and dingy. Overall, the entire complex was dated and worn down. No AC in the elevators, which were quite slow and usually packed. The parking deck was poorly designed; much too tight. There were several closed calls trying to get in and out. And not enough spaces. I will say that, for the most part, the staff was OK. You had to take your dirty towels down to the front desk area to get clean ones (REALLY!!) and the ladies in the laundry were quite obviously overworked, but they were surprising pleasant.

Condo needs deep cleaning.

Pros: The friendly staff. Right on the beach.
Cons: Cleaning
Location: Eight tenth of a mile to Garden City Pier. My teenager grandchildren love to walk to the pier, especially for ice cream.
Royal Gardens is a beautiful building. The outside staff keeps it looking very nice. the condo itself needs some deep cleaning. The plates around outlets were extremely dirty as well as grime build up on closet fixtures. There were no hangars in the closet. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom did not work. There was no ceiling fan in the living room/dining area. The scatter rugs were dirty. The parking was horrible. The spaces were narrow and the space between front row and back row was so small, pulling in and backing out was a 2-3 trial to get parked. All staff that we came in contact with was very professional, courteous, and friendly. I can't say I would not recommend this condo, but I would be cautious to see if deep cleaning had been done.

Barely adequate hotel.

Only redeeming quality was oceanfront view nxt to beach. Ceiling tiles in bat groom I'll fitting and exposed pipes. Glad that I brought my own sheets. First evening I observed brown film floating in pool so I didn't allow my kids to swim in it. Had to deliver our dirty towels back to main floor in order to receive clean towels. Oven temp dial didn't work do had no idea what temp it was cooking. Overpriced for poor quality room.

Good Value. Needs some work though.

Let's face it, to find a good place at the beach for a decent price is almost impossible. Enter RGR. Okay the rooms need some upkeep. Some TLC you know. When the fan wobbles like it's going to fly off... So I get my tools out of the car. Tighten the blades and it's better. A note to management staff. HIRE someone to go from room to room and do inspections — does the light switch work, does the fan wobble, does the fridge smell?, Be proactive rather than wait for a complaint. Secondly. Dear condo owner. I know you don't want to spend money on the place. You most likely hate all renters in the first place. But, change out the mattresses every six months to a year. And don't be so cheap. The beds were worn out. But not having room service rapping on the door at 9 am is a bonus. However, clean towels must be gotten at the front desk between 10 and 2. And don't be late because the lady does not stick around! The parking lot is terrible. PRIUS cars and zip in and zip out... but seriously, who takes a PRIUS on a week vacation for a family of four. The parking is tight and the turns are hard. And there's nothing they can do about that. So be warned. The staff was fairly friendly. No one asked how my stay was when checking out though. Hmmm. Maybe they heard about the fan blades earlier? The beach is right there. RIGHT THERE. That's a wonderful thing. Over all. It's a nice enough place. You can't beat the price for the location. And if you are on the beach the majority of the time, well then, the mattresses aren't so bad.

filthy, disgusting, broken

We stayed at the Royal Garden Resort for a weekend. The sofa bed was broken. About half the springs were missing so you could only sleep on one side. When we took the pillows off the sofa, the top of the bed was coated in crumbs, french fries, peanut shells and oreos and looked like they had been there for a long time. We tried to clean the sofa bed however the vacuum cleaner in the unit was broken and had pieces missing. By the time we found this the office was closed and nothing could be done. There were lots of dirty dishes and food coated utensils in the cabinets, including a full glass of wine. The bottom of the dishwasher was loaded with rotting, smelly food. One of the barstools had bread crusts shoved down the sides of the cushion. Overall, the condo was dirty, dumpy. and in great need of renovation. The snack bar that is in the hotel description was not open. We looked in and could tell that it hadn't been open in a long time. They were using it as a storage room. While we were there one of the elevators was broken and often elevator trips took 10 - 20 minutes. The two elevators that were working were not synced with each other so everyone pushed both buttons which caused the elevators to stop when the other elevator had all ready picked them up. The units are individuallly owned and there may be large differences in what you get but it's not worth risking to get the unit we were in #1004.
