Excellent customer service. Amtrak was delayed and we arrived at 2AM. There was a sign on the door to call and in a flash the night auditor was there to let us in - much to our relief.

The property has a unique vibe but seems poorly thought out. Basic things like AC and heating didn’t work. Facet was so low to the sink basin that you couldn’t rinse your hands. Tv remote didn’t work. It just seemed like it needed some attention to detail. Just an ok stay. But within walking distance to everything!

Very friendly staff, the rooms are modern, but very minimalistic. Close to WWII museum, and the French Quarter. Lots of great restaurants nearby. Alberto told us about The Little Gem Saloon, and the food was absolutely amazing, as was the service. P & G restaurant and bar is right around the corner and had a great breakfast (amazing grits). He Hotel has a great bar on main level and a cool outside bar on the third level. A fun place to stay.

This hotel is in a really cool, old building, and centrally located and a walkable distance from just about anything, but that's about where the charm ends. If you like the amenities that chain hotel brands provide, then the Catahoula Hotel is not for you. Firstly, when I booked this hotel four months ago, I requested a king bed. We were given a full. Secondly, our room was DIRECTLY behind the front desk, practically in the lobby. We could hear the incessant text alerts on the desk clerk's phone clearly as if the phone was in the room with us, not to mention the loud and constant noise from the lobby and bar at all hours of the day and night. A little bit of lagniappe from the hotel is that our clothes absorbed the odor of fry grease from the bar kitchen that continually permeated our room during our stay. The room itself was tiny, very close quarters for my husband and I who are not overly large people. The shower stall was wide open, with no curtain or door over the opening. No matter how hard we tried when we showered, we could not keep water from splashing onto the concrete floor, where NO bathmat was provided. Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen, right? In case you're curious, there was no hair dryer, iron, closet, or dresser, either. Our room was on the ground floor, and the window opened onto a narrow alley. Quite by accident I discovered that the window lock was very flimsy. It would take little effort to break into the room from the alley, undetected.

When we arrived our rooms concrete floors we soaking wet and the smell of pinesol was so strong it made you sick. The smell of pinesol and wet/mildew never left all week. Our clothes, luggage, bedding.. everything smelt like it! We couldn’t wait to get back home just to wash everything, and smell clean again! The room has a shower open in the room. There is zero ventilation.. so the room is like a steam room leaving everything feeling wet. The air conditioner unit hanging above the shower makes for a very cold shower. I felt like I was living in a camper where nothing ever gets dry. I felt like I was sticky constantly because of this. We went 2 days without any housekeeping. I finally had to clean the room myself and change our garbage. I left in all out in the hallway hoping someone would take it. We went twice without toilet paper. I had to go get it myself twice. We went without clean towels u til I found the closet they kept them in and then I stocked our room daily with new towels... new towels that smelt like burnt food from the kitchen that was close by!! We never walked on the rooms concrete floors barefoot because they were sticky and your feet would get so dirty on the bottom. Location to the French Quarter is definitely convenient and within walking distance.. but there are a ton of other hotels in the same location... do yourself a favor and stay at one of those! We absolutely LOVED New Orleans, but our hotel made us so happy to come back home!
