Paid for upgrade( when I asked for it front desk said no you don’t have an upgrade and you aren’t being charged for one) I did not receive and I was charged. The mattress I slept on may have been left over from the war of 1812. Location is terrific. Staffs response to problem with room was that there was nothing they could do as they were sold out except I went online and was able to find rooms available. Spend your money elsewhere.

I stayed in this hotel in April (2019) and super happy and impressed with the hotel. That's why this time I came back to NY with some guests and chose the hotel. Before checking in, I non-stopped talking about how good it was, and the whole group experienced the opposite! They charged extra $ for our group of 4 but didn't give enough shampoo; we called, nobody brought it until called again in the morning. Water run super hot at night and super cold in the morning (only one faucet works); electric outlet in the bathroom was not working, so we had to take the dryer out to use. Some machines (?) made super loud noise at night and we couldn't sleep well even walking whole day in NY wore us out completely! Think twice if you want to book here even the location is the best!

Location is great. Prices vary a lot, unsure why. Food is good but very pricey. No inexpensive way to do your own laundry.

No one answers phone from the front desk to room service. We ordered coffee to be delivered every morning and they messed it up every time, ie never came, went to wrong rom, came late. The restaurant was the worst. We sat down at 10:30 to order. Server Diaz (extremely rude) came at 10:50 to get a drink order. We wanted to order food and he said the kitchen closed at 10:45. We tried to explain shouldn’t sitting there for 20 minutes count for something and he treated us like I have never been treated before! We ended up leaving and going to the plaza. There is a problem with employees and lack of employees and management here. I called to speak to a manager before I wrote my review giving them one last chance to kind of explain or apologize. Well, here I I am writing a review. I will say one employee that worked outside was outstanding! His name is Timothy. He helped us with cans and directions and went above and beyond. Maybe he should be managing the place! If the service was good this would be closer to a four star hotel. Calling the front desk and no one answering should have been our first clue to move to another hotel.

The number 1 factor of staying at this property is the location in Central Park South. That is the only reason to stay here. The downsides: overpriced for service level and condition of the property and insufficient staff to serve their guests. Our room clean-up service was never before mid-afternoon if not later. The lack of staff at the only on-property food service cafe was so poor every morning that I had to go outside the property just to obtain coffee and a small breakfast item. They were never staffed with more than one employee with lines across the lobby/service area. When requesting reasonably priced restaurants nearby, the concierge provided only two options and both were very high priced. The front door outside area of the hotel smells like urine all the time. The room furniture is in very bad condition, as is the condition of the interior finishes. The air conditioning never cooled the room off less than 77 degrees with temps outside over 90. Worse yet, we were notified of a planned repair to the hotel's steam system that cools the property and provides hot water upon check-in. Our only option was to stay and hope it returned by 9 am the next day, but we had to pay for all nights on the reservation anyway, or leave and walk around NYC with our luggage to find another property on a weekend. No room discount or other accommodation was provided. The air and hot water were out for 16 hours and our room reached a temperature of 80 degrees. Bad experience!
