Not a good place to stay.

Location:Location was near the train station.
There were no hotel facilities: bar, restaurant, places to sit in the lobby. The hotel is in terrible condition. They are trying to renovate the place but very tacky. If we would have know the condition of hotel we would not have stayed there. The room was old and the furniture old and beat up, and lights falling off the wall. Just a place to sleep.

Well-located midtown hotel with good-sized room
Pros:Location, generous room size, the fact that it was quiet.
Cons:The hotel should be sure to train staff to check on the functioning of gadgets in the rooms and to maintain a reasonable temperature in the rooms.
The Wyndham 45 is very convenient to Grand Central station and midtown Manhattan and has the added bonus of a nice diner across the street (the Comfort Diner). The room was large by NYC standards and had many places to store things. There were just a few equipment things that needed correcting, however. One was that the room was boiling hot (on one of the colder days in the winter) when I got in, as the heat had been turned up high. I had to call to the office to have someone come up and show me how to open the window, but was able to adjust the thermostat and get the temperature to normal fairly quickly. The staff person came to my room within 10 minutes. Unfortunately, about a half hour later, I discovered that the TV remote didn't work -- a call to the office brought the same staff member to my room within 10 minutes to replace it. Nothing else went wrong and my room was quiet.

Nice family hotel!
Cons:A free continental breakfast would be wonderful, but most hotels in the city don't offer this.
Location:Very near grand central and all the major sites in manhatten.
I was very nervous about staying at this hotel after reading some reviews about the staff and the rooms. I am very pleased to say that this hotel was wonderful. Every employee was so nice and friendly to us, even the person that others had said was rude. They were so accommodating for us and let us store our luggage before and after we checked in. When we got our luggage they even offered an area for me to change, because I had just run the marathon. Several of the employees told me great job and even talked to us about the experience. We would definetly stay here again.

The Hotel was nice we were within walking distance
We enjoyed our stay at Wyndham. Great View of The Chrysler Building from The Rooftop Deck. Beautiful view day and night. The staff was very Friendly from The Front Desk to The Cleaning Staff. Would stay here again.

An OK place to stay
Pros:The suite had plenty of room and a well stocked kitchen.
Cons:The staff and need a restaurant.
Location:Location was good!
This hotel was ok. We had a suite , so we had plenty of room. The front desk staff was average. The concierge wasn't very helpful. The furniture in the rooms is odd. There isn't a resturant or room service.

Good place to stay
My experience is pretty good, I got no any problem with the hotel. The employees are nice and attentive. The rooms are small but its wasn't really bad. The hotel is very close to grand central which help me to go around NY very easily. My highlight experience on this hotel is when I got the chance to watch the Macy's 4th of July fireworks at their rooftop, it was a good view. I'll definitely will come back to this hotel in the future.

Great location & room, friendly staff
I stayed at the Wyndham Midtown 45 for my first visit to NYC. I originally selected this hotel for its location, price and reviews on several sites. I was traveling specifically to attend the US Open in Flushing, and knew that I wanted a hotel near the 7 train. The hotel was also in a great location for sightseeing such as the public library, Bryant Park, Times Square, Broadway, Fashion district, Rockefeller Center and Central Park.
When we checked in, the concierge was very friendly and after some conversation, provided us with free internet for the first night. We were surprised to find that our room had a full kitchen, with a stove, dishwasher and full sized refrigerator. The room had a nice layout and did not feel cramped with the entryway, kitchen, typical-sized closet, couch and queen sized bed. When we were ready to checkout the staff held out bags while we went to lunch and were very prompt about delivering our car and bags when we returned to leave.
We were very busy during our stay so we did not take full advantage of the room amenities nor did we have reason to ask much from the hotel staff. I will definitely consider this hotel again, especially for an extended visit where I would benefit from having the full kitchen and nice seating area in the room.

Oldie but Goody
The Alex was an older hotel but it was clean, bed comfortable with nice white crisp sheets and comfortable pillows, friendly staff, and they upgraded our room from a studio to a one-bedroom suite with a terrace with the Chrysler Building looming over us. Not because we asked them to--they just did. The location was excellent and transportation was a breeze. Three blocks to Grand Central, two blocks to the 42nd St. bus. Corner deli-type restaurant that was clean, with very fresh food, and priced quite well. One block to the United Nations building, etc., etc., etc. We would definitely stay there again.
The good rating rather than excellent is because it is an older hotel.

Maybe 3 star hotel, definitely not 4 star
Pros:Quiet
Cons:No free Internet
The staff were all very friendly and eager to assist us with any questions we had. The room was quite spacious,nice modern vibe. The bed was definitely an issue it was soooooo uncomfortable so hard was as if I was sleeping on the floor so I barley slept because the bed felt like concrete and as for my fiance, he is 6ft tall and his feet were hanging off the bed by 4-6 inches! The hotel also advertises a mini bar in every room as well as a snack tray and there wasn't any of that in our room :( . Also some other guests were smoking illegal substances and it stunk so badly we could smell it in our room and in the elevator :(... also was pretty offended by the prices of everything on the menu. ...I didn't dine at the hotel restaurant because of the prices especially not knowing the if the cook is any good no offense but just because you charge $19 for eggs benedict doesn't mean you can prepare it properly. In a nutshell, 3 star hotel at most.
