Location and exterior view are attractive. Front desk staff is cold and not solicitous at all. We have a room that we paid $900 for (the highest rate for the hotel) and the HVAC system was awful. When we arrived at the room it was cold- the thermostat was adjusted to increase the heat and instead triggered the AC The mini bar has three drinks and there is no bottle opener to open these “complimentary” drinks. The furniture is worn and dated. We ordered dessert from room service menu and the homemade cookies were hard and not tasty - the chocolate chip cookie contained nuts and oats. My teenage son complained the entire time that the Equivalent of a courtyard Marriott would’ve been a better alternative .

Lovely!

From arrival till the end, perfect! Great staff, great food, great atmosphere! Very romantic and perfect to Newport! Jazz night was definitely a extra plus! Breakfast also very good..

It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This Hotel

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, best staff
From the moment you arrive and throughout your stay, the warm and gracious staff an The Chanler will make you extremely glad that you chose this hotel. Our beautifully appointed room was immaculate and the view was amazing. Dinner at the Spiced Pear was wonderful. There are several breakfast choices included with your stay and they are great as well. Friday night, you can enjoy listening to a jazz band at their beautiful cocktail lounge. It was the perfect atmosphere to relax and talk about our day. I will return to The Chanler again and again.

fantastic

What a beautiful hotel. The room was immaculate, views lovely. We had a small problem with the gas fireplace, but maintenance came right out and fixed it. The rose petal, champagne bubble bath drawn for us was wonderful. We had dinner at the spiced pear, which was good, but breakfast the next morning was better. I can't wait to go back and try another room! If you don't mind going in the off season, Newport is beautiful all year long and the prices decrease significantly.
