This delightful detached period cottage sits in extensive grounds in the very peaceful hamlet of Balmerino. Furnished with care and flair, the interior is modern and stylish, without compromising on comfort. The hamlet is on the site of an ancient Cistercian monastery and there are fine views from the front of the house towards the River Tay. The abbey ruins and grounds are managed by the National Trust for Scotland and are famed for the ancient sweet chestnut tree, which is over 450 years old, and the display of aconites which flower in February. Guests seeking peace and relaxation will love staying here – a switch off from day to day life, yet within easy reach of civilisation - in a perfect location for exploring this wonderful area.
The East Neuk of Fife is a short drive, with its pretty coastal villages and crowstep gabled houses. Golfers, of course, have the pick of the best, with St Andrews, Kings Barns and Carnoustie all within a half hour drive. There are stables at Kinshaldy Beach where you can canter across the sands at Tentsmuir or if you prefer, just enjoy the cosmopolitan delights of Dundee and Edinburgh, exploring the V & A museum, art galleries, shops and numerous good eating places.
