It’s a really old hotel. It needs to be torn down and rebuild. The rooms are very musty and smell like an old damp basement that’s over 100 years old. The room was clean but are very outdated with very old carpeted floor. The room door let’s in a lot of the hallway light and you can hear people in the hallways as if they are in the room with you! Way overpriced for what you get and you have to pay to access the swimming pool.

Continental breakfast was dissapointing, neighbours were very noisy (hard to sleep with constant doors slamming and people shouting in the hallway), bathrooms should be renovated - water leaking everywhere after a shower - takes long for hot water to warm up in faucet. Lighting should be better in the rooms. Staff is very kind and respectful and very helpful.

Travelodge Ottawa

Pros: Rooms have plenty of space, location is very convenient on Carling Avenue with access to the Queensway highway.
Cons: WiFi was weak or disappeared in my room (this has happened in rooms close to the end of each floor I was in); need more signal boosting throughout.
Location: Location is central; shopping centers are close by, not too busy area, and tourist attractions in reasonable distance.
This is a family hotel, so be prepared for lots of families and children. The indoor pool is a standout. As an FYI, request a room away from the pool side, the noise of the pool, people, and the PA system can be a bit much, but this is a family hotel, so take that into account. One complaint is the Wi-Fi; the room I was in the Wi-Fi was weak or disappeared all of the time. While it is a free service provided to guests, it would be nice if the Wi-Fi had a strong signal throughout the hotel and its rooms. Outside of that, overall a good hotel with plenty of parking.

Great Value For The price

Have now stayed twice and would have stayed a third time if they hadn't been booked up. Had to go to the Capital Inn and Suites on Albert and THAT'S a total 'nother story!! The only annoying noise was from the other guests who were soon quieted down. The staff are super people, The food is good [although the Zen closes after breakfast until dinner time.] Kids are not a problem nor is parking. I like the location [two minutes to 417] and five minutes to downtown. Would definitely stay again and am about to book now for September. If you want to complain about something, go and stay in the Capital Hill Inn and Suites at $30.00 MORE per night. Review follows. Every time we drove by it last week we almost cried.

This place was a pleasant surprise - and even had a mini-indoor water park.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, mini-water park
Cons: the one-way roads make it a bit hard to get to.
I picked this place on price and location, as we wanted to see the Parliament buildings, but it was better than we had expected. This place was a pleasant surprise - and it even had a mini-indoor water park, which we enjoyed. It had a wave generator, and a tube-style water slide. The breakfast was not included, but it was reasonably priced. The staff was very helpful too.

Overall - Average but Restaurant Very Good

Pros: Free Internet, in-hotel restaurant
The overall experience at this hotel was average. The one thing that stood out was the restaurant. The food was excellent and the price was even better. I ate there both evenings of my trip and enjoyed great food all priced under $20. The only downside to the hotel was the internet speed. Internet access was very slow.

very loud, very basic, pool is the main draw

Cons: Noisy
I will start by saying that we were not looking for a fancy hotel by any means, just somewhere fun to stay with the kids for one night and we weren't spending much time in the hotel room at all. The pool is a big draw but make sure you check the schedules before hand- closed much of Sunday. I have stayed at this hotel in 2008 and again in June 2011 and one thing hasn't changed- the noise level! A kid friendly hotel is expected to be noisy with guests, especially during tournament season, but that isn't the issue- on both visits, it was the staff in the early morning. I have never experienced anything like it at other hotels. If you stay here, make sure you are getting up early. The doors opening and slamming shut started at 7am, talking in the halls, walkie talkies going off... very, very noisy and impossible to sleep in at all. Clean but very outdated- our bathroom had stains and was "as clean as it could be" but might not be up to some people's standards. One teeny bar of soap and one bottle of shampoo (no conditioner, anything else) and paper cups. No kleenex. Even if you are staying for the pool, it is VERY basic. Beds are wonderfully comfortable though. Really got the feeling that we were in the way of housekeeping by staying until check out time though. Construction going on outside- really, the loudest place imagineable.

Awful. Do Not stay. Seriously.

Pros: price ok
Cons: Nothing close, No free Internet, Noisy, Poor breakfast, construction, room smelled
I am not a complainer about hotels, but this place is a dump. The hotel looks okay once you step in the lobby, but it has some issues as you will discover. The first room we went into smelled like used diapers. I'm not kidding. This place is a conference center, so many people are in and out and probably trash the place. We asked for a new room. Granted. The next room we were in, the toilet handle/float chain in it broke immediately. They were quick to fix it, but it was out for about 2 hours. Second, the shower head literally broke off when trying to move it. We had to deal with it. They did comp. us complimentary breakfast for our troubles. The staff was okay, but when we had breakfast, the silverware and cups were dirty, probably ran through a dishwasher with recyled water. I passed on the coffee. Aside from that, there is a water park inside with a slide and a wave pool/hot tub. We didn't take advantage, but I'm sure kids would enjoy. Other than that, stay away from this place. Outside on the street they were doing all types of construction. It was really annoying getting in and out. Oh, and internet costs .50c a minute, minimum of 6 minutes. That's $3 for 6 min. Breakfast was averaged priced for a buffet with cold sausage... Don't waste your time and money. Stay somewhere else. I guess you get what you pay for.

Do not stay here

We booked a Standard room with 2 Queen beds plus a sofa bed. The hotel tried to put us in a room with two double beds and no sofa bed. The front desk staff was very uncooperative.
