We just got back from our five night stay at the Royal Hideaway and it was amazing! I was skeptical reading all the great reviews; sometimes you can't always trust them. And there were so many of them! But it was everything and more. I almost don't want to write another great review and keep this secret to myself. The staff are amazing and so accommodating. From the bellman, Manuel, to our concierge Luis, to all the restaurant staff! There are too many names to mention, but the pool staff, Luis and Javier were excellent! They remembered what we drank every day and worked their butts off to bring you non-stop drinks while you relax by the pool or on the beach. The food was also very good! I don't think we ever had a bad meal or anything we didn't like. We made all of our reservations before we got there and this bit of advice was the best advice we got. We were able to get all the restaurants we wanted at the times we preferred. Our concierge Luis and The Grill's manager Hector did amazing setting up a romantic dinner for us on the beach for our anniversary even with a chance of thunderstorms coming in. The hotel and grounds itself are so beautiful and clean. There was very little seaweed and the small amount that was there was cleaned up every morning by the staff. Our room was perfect! We were upgraded to a room overlooking one of the relaxation pools. I just can't say enough about our stay and how perfect it was! We will definitely be back.

Beautiful property in a nice area on the beach (Playacar). Resort and rooms were gorgeous, clean and very well kept, restaurant food was DELICIOUS, and service was always friendly. Definitely easy to spend a week here and not want to leave! RECOMMENDATIONS: - Book your shuttle ahead of your arrival - Google the resort and make dinner reservations via email in advance of your arrival (week before is OK) - Rent a catamaran or kayak (they have some right on the beach by the resort, it's free to rent but you have to pay if you need lessons) - Take a stroll outside the resort along playacar blvd or 5th avenue (very safe and beautiful area with shopping and restaurants) - Go snorkeling or scuba diving via the on-site tour service - TIP YOUR SERVERS! They work for a living. $1-2 per drink and $5-10 per meal is fine, they will take care of you. Trust me on this. We were worried by a few of the negative reviews before arriving, and now see they must have been left by people who 1. Don't know how to tip, or 2. are entitled, finicky uptights who are rude to wait and service staff (we saw a few people like this...as a result they often had drink orders take a loooong time). Be courteous, greet everyone kindly, slip your server a tip here and there, and I promise you will have a great time.

Close to beach

There was a letter in our room telling us the electricity would be out over night. We were not informed at check in. The electricity was out a lot longer than stated in the letter, the water was also off for an unknown reason. Our towels were replaced once, I was told numerous times in 2 days that they bring them to my room, I finally hunted some down on my own. You have to have reservations at every restaurant in the resort for an evening meal, we weren’t informed about this rule. Had to plead for a table the first night we were there. The staff wasn’t good about sharing information.

Incredible hotel on the beach with great service

Only great things to say about this hotel, their staff, and the location. 6-8 different restaurants to choose from with great food. Staff are amazing. Even get food and drink service all day long on the beach. Already planning our next trip back.

staff was wonderful.

Pros: the villas and pathways throughout the property. No rooms higher than 3 stories
Cons: Air conditioning and mini bar was always warm. Concierge was gone before 5.
Location: great for shopping. Right across the street.
Staff was wonderful. Air conditioning and refrigeration need to be improved. Beer and water always warm. Need some more english speaking channels on TV. Beach was beautiful. Food OK. Need more selections.

Honeymoon

Pros: Service
Cons: More party atmosphere til later in the evening. More music in the pool area during the day.
Location: Plenty snorkeling in Puerto Morelos, cenotes and nightlife in town.
Impeccable. I've read other people's reviews in reference to dining reservations being difficult. I didn't see the difficulty all our accommodation were meat.

Vacation in Paradise!!!

Pros: Everything!
Cons: Nothing , never change a winning team. Just hold your fantastic staff and keep the place as it is and we will be back.
If you are looking for a getaway to relax, be close to the beach, have awesome culinary experience and sleep very comfortable this is the place to be. It was our first time in mexico and our first time at this hotel...and we will definitely come back! If you read a bad review please think about what you want from your vacation and keep in mind that people want different things and have different expectations...and sometimes leaving a bit of tip will get you appreciated more. Our expectations were exceeded and we have spent 6 wonderful nights in paradise.
