Seems the management was surprised by Valentines Day and failed to schedule enough staff to clean the rooms the following day. So, the lobby filled with guests and their pets waiting to check in. To placate the increasingly angry crowd, they gave away alcoholic drinks. While my family, with young kids, waited until almost 8:00pm, my kids got to hear how drunks talk when they’re in a tavern. After checking in several parties who arrived after us, my kids finally fell asleep on the lobby couches like the homeless who camp outside. When we finally checked in, we were promised the manager would call the following day to make it right. Finally getting into the room, the kids were excited to see the candy the hotel left as an apology until I had to explain that’s for sale. We asked for updates twice and once the guy was belligerent that we even asked. They told us it was being inspected and should be ready any minute- for hours. After several hours, had I known it would take that long, I would have eaten the $550 and just booked another hotel. The next day, no call. No call from anyone. No attempt to make anything right. I would have accepted an apology. As a vet, I’ve stayed in a lot of places and this is the worst as far as service and hospitality. If this was the last option in downtown, I’d cancel my vacation or rent a car.
