Mc Phee/Hayes wedding

Everything was fantastic until check out. Than it all went to pot. An hour and fifteen minutes for a bell hop while our car sat in front running the entire time. Our friends car was lost. His wife found it after waiting for over 2 hours.

It was nice and kind staff.

Pros: Location.
Cons: I hope there were vending machine for drink or snacks.
The room was clean and neat. First night, I couldn't sleep because of the noise, I asked and they change the room.

Dear Lovelymin, Thank you for your recent stay at our hotel. I am pleased you found the location to be convenient for your travel in Providence. I apologize that you were inconvenienced by noise. It is for that reason that we do not have vending machines on our guest floors. We do have a retail shop adjacent to the Reception Desk where we have snacks and beverages available for our guests. We look forward to your return to Providence. Warm regards, Kimberly Greene/General Manager

Beautiful hotel

My husband and I stayed one night at this hotel. It was a romantic night away from the kids. I tried to get a room with a view, but they were all taken. Valet was pricey, but convenient. My husband even forgot his dress shirt for dinner and someone retrieved it and brought it to our room. It was our first time staying in Providence. The hotel is about a block up the hill from the mall. We enjoy walking and exploring a city, so the location was great for us and super close to waterfire which we enjoyed after dinner. Waterfire is a great experience and something you should try to see if you can. The front desk had suggested Local 121 for dinner when I called earlier in the week. It was delicious and we had excellent service. I'd love to go back some time and have drinks in the bar, because the bar was beautiful with stained glass windows. There were some loud partying guests in the hallway that woke us up at midnight, but nothing that I had to call and complain about. We had drinks in the hotel bar before bed and it was a nice, cozy place. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay again.

Splendid hotel, great staff

Visiting from Vermont for a Saturday night and spent a marvelous evening and Sunday morning in a great room without a single complaint. This hotel is a great addition to the Providence area and has the majority of the other accommodations in the city beat, hands down. The staff was very helpful and accommodating as well as friendly and cheerful. The roof was very hip and sumptuous, bed was great as was the bathroom. No complaints, only praise and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a break from the average hotel.

Nothing Compelling That Makes Me Choose This Hotel

Cons: No free Internet
Yes, the rooms were nice and well appointed. The valets were consistently enthusiastic. However, our experience on checking in causes me to wonder whether they really care about guests. I had specifically requested a king room on an upper floor. On arrival, we were told that neither was available. When I questioned this, I was told -- by the desk clerk, who exuded the attitude that I should have been grateful for two sleeping bags in the boiler room -- that my reservation was a mere request that they could honor if they were inclined to do so. We were then shown to a first floor room, with two queen beds, adjacent to the bar, where the music could be heard clearly. We returned to the desk, and I went outside to hold the car, as I was fully prepared to drive 15 miles to Warwick to a hotel at the airport, regardless of the cost, as I felt that no one wanted my business. My wife, in the meantime, complained to the night manager (Bianca), who miraculously "discovered" that there was, contrary to what we had been told, a room on the 4th floor with a king bed, after she was told that we had another reservation at another Renaissance Hotel that we would gladly cancel. Bianca, however, did so grudgingly, with little better than the same attitude that the desk clerk exhibited. No one offered any apology for the lack of manners. When we got to the room, it was pleasant, clean, and well appointed. However -- and this is not the fault of the hotel's management -- the light for the bathroom is outside the door, and there is no way to turn it on without casting light directly on the bed. As a result, I found myself groping in the dark for the toilet as i did not wish to wake my wife up. The hotel is new, pleasant, and accessible by foot to downtown. The valets act as if customers matter. The desk staff and management could, however, act as if people who are dropping hard earned money actually make a difference. Would I stay there again? I cannot say no, but I would opt for another hotel if the opportunity presented itself.

The management, staff, food, and facilities were beyond our expectations

Pros: wonderful staff and facilities
On three days notice the Renaissance staff put together an event that was beyond anything we could have imagined. Due to the tropical storm and power outages in New England we moved our daughter's wedding reception to the Renaissance. The management and all the staff were comforting, warm, professional and provided what was described by many many of our 200+ guests as "the perfect wedding". Despite the fact that venue was a few steps above the wedding we had originally planned, the Renaissance provided it within our means to help during this difficult situation. They looked at what we had ordered from the original venue and not only duplicated it but provided more than we had at the original venue. The decor was beautiful, food was not your typical banquet food it was fresh, plentiful, and delicious. The wait staff and bartenders were gracious and all our vendors were taken care of with ease. In addition to the event itself , since the bridal suite that generally comes with a wedding planned at the Renaissance was not available, the bride and groom were given the Vice Presidential Suite for the day/evening. The decor and amenities of the room were something out of a hollywood movie. They were treated like royalty. I cannot say enough about the tremendous staff, food and facilities at this hotel.
