The beach is exceptional, the food was superb, and the staff provided outstanding service. The primary area for improvement lies in the guest rooms, which are outdated and require renovation; however, the public areas are meticulously maintained.

It felt home-y like an apartment property , we loved that feeling. Some things you felt far away from like our room from reception and restaurants but still somewhat convenient. Everyone was very friendly and for the most part accommodating. The rooms should have the outlets tested, only 2 out of 5 outlets worked. The wi-fi wasn’t stable especially for multiple people rooming and throughout the property. The rooms should be fumigated for insects. Despite some hiccups, we loved the place and can’t wait to stay again.

The property was in extreme need of repair this riu was unlike any other property of riu I had stayed at it needs a complete remodel. Staff was slow to respond and had to ask multiple times for towels for our room and towels at the pool were unavailable multiple days by 4 pm.

This place was by far the best Hotel we stayed at. In the DR. The beach and grounds are pristine and very tropical. The sand is so soft and the color of the water was like looking at a piece of Larimar. The room was airconditioned had hot water and the bar was stocked with liquor,beer water and sodas like I've never seen. The maid service left tropical flowers around the bathroom for an added touch. The buffet was good, better than the restaurants who actually tried to keep people out. The hosts from the restaurants need to be kinder to people.That is why I put only 4 stars jk I put 5. I was very happy with my stay there.

We liked the reception staff (Americo) who was very supportive. The chefs and the restaurant staff were very social and kind. The gardeners who sell coconuts around were kind and social. The cleaners too. We however had several issues with our room (6020). First of all, none of the power outlets were working, luckily we had brought power banks with us. We also did not have towels and had to ask the reception. The bathroom and toilet do not have fans and the moisture made the room stuffy and slippery. When we requested a change of room, we were told to come back the following day at 2 pm, and we were later told that all the rooms were sold out. We ended up staying in the same room until we left with no power to charge our electronic devices. The rooms seriously need renovation. Another challenge was with Destination Services, a company that facilitates excursions, transfers, and multi-day tours within the hotel. We had booked our boogie ride tour through Expedia as a package. Destination Services did not send us directions about our Adventure even when we sent them emails with all the details to confirm our participation as required. It was very complicated to prove that we had paid through Expedia. Juan a staff of Destination Services was ready to sell us the same activity we had paid through Expedia. The company still charged us for a trip we didn’t take that they booked for Jan 8th yet we left the hotel on 6th Jan. I am still solving this issue with my bank here in Canada.

We have stayed at several RIU’s all over the place and I will say this one was a disappointment. At the pool during the day there was very little activity and the rooms were rather outdated which wasn’t a big deal for me but some of our group didn’t care for it. This resort is huge though and spread out so check where your room is prior to arrival. Biggest complaint was the food at the buffets selection was slim, not marked properly what was what and just no flavor. Everything was very bland. We will not come back to this report in the DR again truthfully.

Property was beautiful but the food was absolute crap! The food was bland and tasted awful. The plates, glasses and silverware were always dirty. We barely ate the whole 10 days we were there. We talked with other vacationers at the resort and at other RIU resorts and they had the same horrible experience with the food as we did. I do NOT recommend staying at a RIU resort. Restaurants and bars were only open certain times. There was nothing to do at the resort. The website didn’t mention that the casino and water park were at a different resort.
