We've stayed here before and really like it. They are pet friendly; there is a little dog park area on the property which is convenient. Although it looks like the property was bought out by Wyndham :( the original owners seem to still be in control. I always prefer mom and pop places to big chains and this is no exception. The property is clean and well maintained. The restaurant is convenient and good. Only bad part is they don't habe enough help, but this is an issue everywhere, and according to the owners, a bug problem in Raton.

Just a old run down motel. Staff was super concerned with how many people were staying in the room i booked and paid for, without reason or explaination.

yes we are a vintage property and like to keep it that way, sorry that you did not appreciate it the way others do. And yes for your own safety we must be aware of how many guest we have on the premises, ( it is Fire Marshall law) and number 2 it cost us 5 times more to house a family of 5 versus a single person. Friendly staff and a large and clean room. AC worked perfect! Now for the not so good… the toilet is like the one I had in elementary school, the bed was pretty lumpy, and the room door was kind of a pain to close and lock. Now, the hotel receipt said that the king room was eligible for 2 free breakfasts - from the special (smaller portion) menu. I went to the restaurant, sat down, and ordered an orange juice before I knew what I wanted. I placed my order a few minutes later, after the waitress brought my juice. Turns out I ordered the item on the short menu with no juice option. No big deal, the juice came in a glass not much bigger than a shot glass so it can’t be that much. The waitress told me it was $2.69!!! Immediately
I told her I didn’t want it, but apparently that wasn’t an option since it had already been poured. Now I was a bit upset. I was eligible for 2 breakfasts and pointed that out, but then she pointed at the stamp on my room key indicating I was a solo guest. *Enter The Hulk trying to stay calm*. A short time later the waitress returned to the table and told me she was going to remove the juice, which I was very appreciative of. I’ve had cheaper drinks at a bar for what they wanted for the juice. The food was good and the waitress was nice, so I left a tip and headed out on my way. All things considered, this was a good stop on my trip.
