My mother and I came down for my Grandfather’s funeral and we checked in at 8 o’clock that night and the first room they gave us, both mattresses had bedbugs all over them. The second room they gave us had roaches everywhere. Lancaster only has a couple hotels and my Mom had stayed at this hotel years and years ago and said it was a nice clean hotel and that’s why we went there. My mom and I neither one could sleep, worrying about the bugs and then being upset about my Grandfather’s death but after being at the hotel for four hours we decided to leave. We thought it would be cleaner and safer to sleep in the car then to stay at this hotel but instead we drove the three hours back home and returned the next day. We didn’t realize that across the street was a Quality Inn that we stayed at for the next few nights that was a wonderful hotel. If you have to stay in Lancaster I would definitely recommend Quality Inn. They have brand new mattresses and they are totally remodeling the hotel and the hotel staff were wonderful, not to mention they have the softest pillows I’ve ever felt but be sure and ask for extra because their pillows are really small. At night they have so many bright lights outside you think if you walk outside at night that it’s daylight it’s so bright. I chatted with Travelocity online and told them the situation with hotel 8 and they tried to talk to them about giving me a refund or a partial refund and they told them no as well.

So bad we didn't even stay for one night.

We showed up and checked in. The main lobby was dingy and musty smelling. Once entering our room we noticed the decor was in various sorts of disarray. We found hair all over the bath tub. Overall filthy room. The beds are advertised as queens but were probably only full size. We sought to get a different room and it was the same condition. We decided if they would reclean the room and change the sheets we would try it out. The lady asked US to remove the sheets and they would bring us fresh ones to put on the beds. We looked at each other and said how about a refund? Couldn't believe the hotel was that bad and then ask us to change our own sheets. The Quality Inn across the street was MUCH better!!

Super 8 Lancaster

Pros: Relatively quiet.
Cons: wiping down walls and by base of toilet
Location: It was close to where I needed to be - probably not a sight seeing place, but convenient for my visiting family.
Grounds were clean and staff very friendly and concerned about your comfort. The room I stayed in was clean, but a little run down. The bathroom sink had a constant slow drip. Parts of the wall along the base had chipping drywall. Being that it was a smoking room, there was nicotine residue on the wall - especially on the door jam between the bathroom and the bedroom (the brown drip-like residue) that I would think someone would want to wipe down once in a while. Although I smoke, I do not smoke inside a building and had to spray the hotel room to make it tolerable, but I guess someone who smokes inside would not be bothered by it. Also there were stains in the basin of the toilet and on the outside of the basin.

Nice location next to Mexican resturant

The only thing I liked about this hotel was the Mexican resturaunt next door. The complimentary breakfast was nice as well. The staff could have been more welcoming. I didn't feel like they had great customer service skills. Also the hotel looked a lot different online than it did in reality. Definitely woildnt have picked the hotel if I had seen it in person first.

Convenient and inexpensive

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
Decent hotel with all the basic needs covered. I have stayed here a few times because of price and location.
