I wish 4.5 stars was an option because that's really what this place is. If I owned this property, I would make some very small changes that, in my opinion, would make a big difference. Here was my experience:
PROs:
The price - super affordable.
The location- steps from Liberty Park, close to Sugar House, The Avenues, Downtown, the airport, interstates, etc.
The bed - that bed was SO comfortable that I slept like, well, a dream.
The decor - seems to have been recently updated and everything looked nice.
CONs
The parking is in an alley behind the unit and it's pitch dark. There is no security light and I was pretty uneasy getting in/out of my car late at night and early in the morning.
I never could get the cable to work. Didn't bother me but for some it might be an issue.
There was no soap in the bathroom. Luckily, I brought my own.
Speaking of the bathroom - it's TINY. Fine for one person but that's it.
Several items need attention: The key to the door doesn't work at all, the aforementioned cable TV, I couldn't get the closet doors to close, a fixture in the bathroom detached from the wall, a smoke detector dangling from the ceiling, the fridge needs cleaning, the items in the closet should be organized and placed in labeled containers, the TV remotes should be labeled for which does what and there is a DESPERATE need for nightlights. If you get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, the only option is a light that burns as bright as a thousand suns. Add some nightlights. The kitchen needs one too. There should also be blackout curtains in the bedroom. The bathroom floor needs swept. There were long, dark hairs around the pedestal sink. I have short blond hair. I looked for a broom to do it myself but had no luck. The sink needs a serious scrub as well.
All in all, this is a solid choice. Nice place, good location and affordable. I think some very basic touches could move it from a 4 to a solid 5.
The owners were friendly, quick to respond to questions and delivered everything they said they would.
