Ok for the price

Staff was nice and helpful. Each morning they have breakfast. Room is ok but I would not return with my family if I traveled there again. Refrigerator had been spray painted to cover up graffiti and there was nothing in the kitchen- no plates, pots, pans, utensils etc.

This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Clean carpets and flushing toilets
Location: There is a lot of fast food and a couple nicer places to eat. There is a Walmart within walking distance as well. Cat litter perhaps???
We checked in about 9pm after working and driving all day. The room smelled strongly of cat urine. I went down to the desk and asked if we could switch rooms if we wanted to and they said they were fully booked, so no. They offered me air freshener. I declined, flowery smelling cat pee, is equally gross. My daughter had to get up a 4 am, so we just opened a window and went to sleep. In the morning, the toilet wouldn't flush (the tank wasn't filling). No one is at the desk until 7 am. I waited and called multiple times, even went down to the front desk. I finally found a person at 7:20. They offered me a plunger (really?). I explained that was not the problem. The front desk told me that I would have to wait until 8:30 for the maintenance person to arrive. The front desk was nice the night before and offered me a late check out if my daughter was late getting back from her commitment. I was actually able to leave about 10 am (thankfully) so I didn't need the late check out. But I couldn't find anyone to check out with, so I had to leave me keys behind the front counter and leave, as we had another commitment and couldn't be late. The staff is actually nice, but the hotel is easily the worst I have ever stayed in. The fridge makes random loud noises all night. I really have no idea what they were.

ONE step up from Motel 6/EconoLodge - room w kitchen

Other reviewers have commented on the filthy rugs in the hallways - those remain. There are plenty of signs of deferred maintenance and botched repairs all over the property. It's a budget motel with kitchen that allows dogs. There is no room service - although the local pizza place will deliver. For the price we paid, it's OK. The bed was fine - we've been to budget hotels, so we brought extra pillows. If you stay for a week or more you get weekly maid service. In the interim you can bring your linens to the front desk for exchange. Having an apt size fridge, microwave, toaster, a couple of burners and a coffee maker means that you don't need to run out first thing in the morning for breakfast. The chair in the room was in poor condition, we covered it with a spare blanket we brought. There is no shampoo or dishwashing soap - but there's a full service supermarket 1/2 a mile away. The location is right off the interstate, and 15-20 min's to SD beaches w/o any traffic. Plenty of fast food nearby. Hotel staff don't have much to do except check-ins/outs, but are available during waking hours if you need something. There's no pool or gym. The laundy facilities weren't well maintained, but it was possible to do a load of laundry once a machine came free. It's one step up from Econolodge/Motel 6, and not in the same league as a proper Hilton, Marriott or Hyatt.
