The Atlantic Beach Hotel is a historic hotel, which is still under refurbishment from 2017's Hurricane Maria. I was told of its important status for the LGBT community. It was taken over by new management in December 2019. The elevator does not work yet, and the 3rd and 4th floors might not be ready for full use as of January 2020. It's unclear who they want to market to; most of the current clientele seemed to be male/female couples. The room was nice enough, but was without decoration, and the bathroom was functional. The bed had three small pillows and we had to ask for extras. They had fast, free Wi-Fi. There was no way to control the central air conditioning. The staff were very friendly, accommodating to all our requests, and cleaned the room daily. They gave us a bottle of water daily. The location is without equal - right on the beach, free chairs and umbrella, and bar downstairs. It is steps away from stores, restaurants, local bus stop, and tourist sites.
