Our stay here was great. Staff was great, there are 2restaurants/bars on site, golf cart and bicycle rentals at the office. We walked and jogged down the road to the south every morning with no problem. Dive shop picked us up at the Royal Caribbean dock every morning and dropped us off at the end of the day. Would stay here again without question.

Not for everyone

As a resort, it's not. Bungalow with a minimal kitchen (sink, refrigerator, microwave, water-heater for coffee, or ???) good AC, security patrols. OK, there's a pool (clean) a bar (closed) helpful office staff (one or two on duty, will call a cab ($10 Bz to go 'most anywhere), arrange sight-seeing, arrange dives, etc.), private dock - almost on property, Posted office hours 7-7; actual office hours 8-6. Usually. Restaurant next door (Victoria House) is good - main room for reservations only and $$$; the bar is better, same menu and only $$. Bring your own mosquito repellant. But, hey, this is Belize.

We enjoyed our stay

Pros: quiant, friendly
Cons: no resaurant or bar on site
We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Caribbean Resort! The staff were friendly and helpful! We enjoyed sitting on the white sand beach, fishing off the pier, snorkling in the sea, swimming in the big beautiful pool, and relaxing in our Cabana. The only draw back to this resort is that there is not a restaurant or bar on site, however, we found a GREAT little place called CAROLINE'S COOKIN' just down the road where the food is fantastic!

Calm and relaxing, but too far from town

Pros: Quiet
Cons: Nothing close
This was a very nice resort. The rooms were small bungalows/cabins each with a kitchen, living area, bedroom area and nice bathroom. It is on the beach and has a wonderful, large swimming pool! It would be great for a total get-away. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only negative is that it is very far from restaurants, shops, and other activities. We had to rent a golf cart to get to town, though they did arrange this for us at the front desk.

Nice accomodations but far from town

My friend and I stayed at Royal Caribbean for 3 days in Feb. Our overall experience was a bit mixed. On the one hand the accomodations were quite spacious, adequately decorated (you don't really need much beyond the beachfront views!) and kept very clean. On the other hand, the hotel is pretty far from town and it got extremely tedious trying to walk or get a cab in the 85 degree heat to the center of the island. Also, despite the hotel promising better deals to its guests vis a vis tours or golf cart rentals, we found they were actually rather overpriced. The pool was not nice at all, with what looked like construction going on, and the beach was the ONLY beach in town lined with sandbags (I guess to keep the tide from coming in). So, while sunbathing you were basically looking at the gorgeous Caribbean Sea, outlined with a wall of huge white bags on the sand. Not ideal. Lastly, I should mention that the front office closes REALLY early. We left to go have dinner one night and left our key with the front desk. We came back at atound 8 PM to see that everyone was gone and the front desk was closed. We tried knocking on the cabin where we were told the staff lived, but nobody was home. Luckily, we had left our windows open so I hatched a scheme to pry open the window screens and climb in. About two hours later, a security guard came to find us in our cabin to give us our key back. In summary, while the cabins themselves were totally acceptable, I would recommend spending a little more and getting more bang for your buck - find a place closer to town with a nicer beach.

Awesome

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet, very clean, transportation easily accessible, staff
Cons: bed
I really loved the Royal Carribean in Belize. Everything was perfect, but the bed. it was clean, staff were great, we met other great people at the resort. The bed you can sleep on but do not expect it to be comfortable. it's a really thin matress. i loved that the boats for the excursions picked us up right at our pier. The water taxi did as well which was great since we didn't rent any type of transportation. Ambergies Caye was awesome, i would move there :)

We loved it!!!

We stayed at the Royal Carribean Resort from March 25th-30th, 2010. We really liked it. it was close to the city but far enough away that it was quiet at night to sleep. the rooms were very clean...which is important to me. They were spacious too, very comfortable for 4 people to hang out, but only enough room for 2 to sleep. The pool was nice, but not a lot of people so plan for a lot of relaxation. it was nice to have the Sand bar right there, but unfortunatly on our last day it closed, so if you go to the pool and you want to drink, bring a cooler and your own beverages. Customer service was really good and booked all of our excursions. It was a great place to visit and i definitely recommend it.

Good Place, Great People

It took a while for the environment and the non luxury aspect to grow on me, but once it did, I really appreciated the simplistic beauty of the resort. More than that, I really enjoyed the employees. * and * are great. Their is another guy at the front desk who is awesome, I just cant remember his name. The rooms are clean, and the grounds are well kept. It was a little farther from the city than I cared for. Next time, I will probably try to stay closer in. But I still enjoyed the resort and I would recommend it.

Clean rooms in the middle of nowhere

We stayed with my 14-year old son only two nights out of the planned 6. The cabanas are clean and the staff friendly. RCR is the very last resort on the way out of San Pedro town and quiet but far from everything. The resort itself is pretty barren: instead of the lush vegetation at most other resorts in SP, there are 3 palm trees slowly falling into the sea at the beach - the rest is more like saplings. The huge concrete swimming pool sits in the middle of nowhere with no shades, vegetation or, in fact, anything close by. The worst is the complete lack of access to the sea. Why would you want to fly thousand of miles for a large concrete hole in the ground filled with fresh water? At the beach there's sea grass and the water is ankle-deep. At the end of the pier somebody cleaned the sea grass in an area of a midsized room: now that is where you can "dip" in the sea - up to your chest. The Sandbar restaurant - your only choice for dinner, unless you rent a golf cart for 70 US/day - is quite good. All in all: this place is for people who only want to read a book all day at the beach, then have an early dinner and retire by 9.30 pm. While downtown SP is fun, filled with resorts that do have sea access and excellent restaurants like the Wild Mango or the Blue Water Grill. We moved to Ramon's Village for a nominally higher price and got what we came for in the first place.

Not amazing, but simple

The hotel is a distance from town, which means you should get a cab from the airstrip or plan on renting a bike or golf cart. We rented bikes from the hotel, which was a really wonderful and easy way to get around. I highly recommend it. The rooms are simple. They do look a bit like army housing or a girl scout camp on the outside, but everything is nice and open, clean, and easy to settle into inside. Having each room as a separate building keeps things quieter too - we couldn't hear what our neighbors were up to the way you can in some hotels. The front desk will push you towards the ""big"" snorkel and tour companies, but I recommend booking those types of day trips through a smaller tour company . You'll have a much more personal experience, led by someone who really knows the area, and it won't feel quite so corporate. The bar/restaurant is nice, but more expensive than most on the island.
