The mattress and bedding looked new and were very clean. The bathroom was clean. The closet looked as if never swept and had lots of dead bugs in it on the floor. There were also some live house centipedes that scurried across the ceiling of the room. For such an old hotel it wasn't bad. The price seemed a little high for the quality of rooms and season. I probably would not stay there again the next time i am in the area.

I've been coming to this area for almost seventy years but had never stayed in this hotel before. It has a lot of character and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly. The double queen room had plenty of space but most of the rooms here are tiny. Port Clinton has really gone downhill over the years. Dirty and unkept downtown. Restaurants caters to drinkers. No clean beaches around or swimming.

Loved the history of the hotel. On one of the hottest days ever, the room was very comfortable. The only problem was that I couldn't figure out ho2 to input my 10% off coupon, and the hotel wouldn't honor the code at their endl

Love the historical feel. Did not like that the elevator was down and the cleaning person did not finish her job, leaving us to walk in to an unmade bed with stains on the mattress pad and pillows. Front desk was very quick to get us in to another room.

Room and building was relatively very clean. Some trash behind the night stand. Nice to have a firdge and microwave. Had to get ice at the front desk. A little inconvenient but not that much. No alarm clock but not a big deal with current smart phones. Probably could have asked for a wake up call. Gulls were noisy but to no fault of the hotel of course. Just something to consider when picking a place to stay anywhere close to the lake.

Cleanliness

Our room was clean but the breakfast area was dirty and had too many fruit flies and black flies. The person in charge told the co-worker to “keep the kitchen door closed”. That was not something I did not want to hear knowing our food was prepared there. But the people who worked there were very nice. They just need better leadership.
