Not what I expected...

When booking at Howard Johnson, we expected I higher standard of hotel. Their pool was closed. The hallway carpets were stained. Hallways were hot and musty smelling. The 1st room we were given, the bathroom door wouldn't close or latch. The 2nd room was musty and had no fridge. The front clerk did his best, with what he had but the building was just gross.

A disappointment

We knew there might be a problem before we had left the lobby, when the desk attendant, seeing two of us, only gave us one room key card. When we got to our room (around the back of the building, away from the highway) there was garbage strewn on the ground, which had not been picked up two days later when we checked out. When we entered our non-smoking room, the odor of cigarette smoke was faint but pervasive. The floor lamp in the room did not work because it had been unplugged, and the only way to plug it in was by shifting the heavy TV cabinet. Two light bulbs in the bathroom were also unscrewed. The first night, the occupant of the next room decided to leave the air conditioning on. I don't know how he slept, because I couldn't from the loud vibrations that went right through our room. At the continental breakfast the next morning the only fruit available were one banana and a couple of bruised apples. That evening we decided we could save time by paying up our bill in advance and discovered that the full amount had already been rung through on our credit card. When we inquired if we could cancel that and pay by cash, the desk attendant was at first unwilling to help. All of this added up to leave a decidedly poor impression of this Howard Johnson's--which we had always regarded as a ""better-than-average"" place to stay.

Needs some service or price reduction

Older hotel. Desk staff helpful. Internet easy to access & strong connection because I was next to front lobby. Desk clerk explained access is weaker the further from front lobby.\nRoom clean, had coffee maker but no coffee, tea, filters etc \nLoud furnace/heater was very noisy and constant on and off for most of the night\nBreakfast sparse. Did not expect much more at the price comparable to hotels in the area.... Would consider staying here if necessart but would prefer the better value accross the river.

Never go here

I rented this room for one night when I got to the room the internet coverage was not good enough to work, the heater never worked and the room looked and felt dirty I would never ever stay here again
