Savannah Area B&B

Cons: See above description
Location: Savannah is a great city with lots of history.
This B&B is a bit tired and rundown. Needs some attention to fix the exterior to make it look worthy of staying there (fresh paint, sweeping front steps & porch, repairs to railing, etc). Immediately upon entering there is a very "old" smell that permeates everywhere and everything. I know this may be hard to eliminate based on the age of the building but perhaps room deodorizers or refurbished furnishings may help. The stairs up to the 2nd floor where the rooms are located needed vacuumed as they appeared messy. The sitting area upstairs was quaint and well lit but refreshments available to guests were store bought and not enticing to eat. The General Lee room was spacious but again could use some refreshing (very old, faded plastic flowers adorn the bed posts). The king size bed was comfortable and linens clean. Bathroom was very big but also needed some heavy duty cleaning - grout, tile, etc.

This house is currently under going repairs and updates starting with the front porch I wonder how you did not see the carpenter with the ladder and tools at the end of each day he does clean the steps and porch. There are room deodorizers in the house most people comment on how nice it smells. Yes I DO GO TO THE VERY BEST BAKERIES and buy the cakes, pies, and cookies for the guests only the best for my guests. The stairs inside are cleaned each day but this is a high traffic building. The bathrooms are cleaned with Clorox bleach each day. I'm sorry to hear you were unhappy here but just for the record we work very hard at taking good care of our guests. It was very nice of you to write a review and we appreciate your input.

Pros: The facility was nice. Room and bed comfortable. Toiletries were terrible. Hair Dryer terrrible. Breakfast good. You get what you pay for.
Cons: Better Toiletries, Better hair dryer. Need to have a cold and hot water dispenser for the convenience of the guests. A microwave is needed in rooms

Thank-you for your review. From reading our review you liked the house the room and the food but you did not like the soap, shampoo, conditioner or hair dryer. Most guests bring their own with them.We do have hot and cold water in the bathroom but as for hot water to cook or a microwave I have never heard of this in a band b perhaps in a vacation rental they have a kitchen in them. The price we charge is no reflection on the quality of our band b we know the economy is difficult for many people today so we keep our prices lower so people can have a nice mansion to stay in at an affordable price.

Impressive house

Pros: Historic house.
Cons: Bathroom sink area for wife's make-up prep. TV cable could have more channels. Luckily important football games were on network tv.
Interesting stay in Confederate House. Beautiful old house which is hard to keep up. Owner made us very welcome and comfortable. The Lee room was neat. Bed was very good. Bathroom was kind big and basic. Location is good for large park outside but a little far from river. Overall it was a good stay,

Sweet southern charm with exceptional hospitality

Location: Although we got in late and left early we are going to come back to check out the area and to stay with Colleen again!!!
Colleen is a rare gem. You can't go wrong staying here. The overall atmosphere takes you back in time and Colleen's hospitality just brings back all that is missing from the day to day world. We were thrilled with our choice of accommodations and will find our way back there.

The Confederate was homey and quaint.

Pros: Quiet and homey.
Location: Easy walk to St. John's cathedral, Mercer House, City Market, and all of the Squares.
It has only three rooms, and that makes it nice and quiet. Location is decent, since you can walk to River Street area and City Market easily (within a mile or so). You do get your own bathroom, and it was large. Homemade breakfasts every morning around 9am.

Confederate House

Pros: The size of the rooms. The bedroom and bathroom were huge. And the location was excellent.
Cons: Another small table in the bathroom for toiletries--there was only one and it wasn't enough.
Location: We were across from Forsyth Park and we could walk to Jones street, where some of the most beautiful and stunning houses were located.
The breakfasts were Southern in every respect--enough food to feed two people and all the favorites: biscuits and gravy, grits, etc. But also fruit, for those of us who like to eat a little healthier.

A little dissappointing

Pros: The main reception room is enormous and beautiful. The owner, Colleen, was very gracious.
Cons: This big building has to be a maintenance nightmare! It appears to be too much for the people running it.
Location: The house is located in a convenient part of the city and offers easy access to most everything that one would want to do in Savannah.
The parking is in back and you have to walk around the building with your luggage to check in. The stairs to enter the building are difficult and stairs to your room even more so. Returning to your room at night was very difficult due to the walk and no lighting. The room itself is small and the big bed takes up all of the room. The bathroom is enormous but faucets and sink were loose.

Why you chose to walk around when there is a path right thru the yard to the front steps was your decision. There are stairs to the front door and to the third floor however they are very gradual steps. There are chandeliers and lighting fixtures all over the house and they are kept on 24 hurs a day. All of our rooms are generous in size however if we have someone staying with us that leaves suitcases etc all over the floor it is difficult to move around the room I know because I go into clean the rooms and this could make a room appear smaller than it is. some times a guest will turn the faucets to forcefully and will loosen a bit but as for the sinks they are large and heavy and definitely not loose. The building is well maintained except for painting which is being done this year . IT WAS SO NICE HAVING YOU AS A GUEST DO COME AGAIN.
