Over priced. Not up to Courtyard by Marriott image

We needed a place for the night while attending a cousins 75 th birthday. I figured the Courtyard would be a nice place and have the facilities I look for in a hotel. The place was clean and appears to have been remodeled a few years ago to become a Courtyard. The remodel is getting tired. I am an early riser and prefer a hotel that has a comfortable common area with coffee and amineties I can visit while my spouse sleeps in. The lobby at one time appears to have been set up for just this but now it is not comfortable and it is noisy even at 6 am. If I could have found a cup of coffee I probably would have been happy but even after walking a half mile each direction I had to wait until the coffee shop in the hotel pool area opened before I could get my cafine jolt. Overall the place was ok but not for $100 more than other properties in the area.

Not worth the added expense

Pros: Location.
Cons: A lot!
Location: Tons to do, just stay elsewhere.
For the price I paid for a one night stay, the value simply wasn't there. This was a special occasion stay, so I paid the premium for a room when I could have gone budget and been 2 doors down at the Holiday Inn with likely the same quality of accommodations. I was disappointed to learn that overnight parking was an additional $12 and there was no complimentary breakfast. Really? I have stayed at far lesser places and been given a more welcoming stay. I guess you pay for the name "Marriott" but nothing more. There was roof construction going on there too. The front desk clerk tried to move us away from the construction, but the view was to the street and dead trees. Just not at all what I have come to expect from a supposed quality hotel. The rooms was very nice, but the bed and pillows left much to be desired. My back and neck are killing me today. There was no ice machine near the room and the beverage machine wouldn't accept our bills. There was one wastebasket in the bathroom, but nowhere else. Just strange. I would absolutely NOT stay here ever again.

Nice room good place to stay

Overall nice place,but the one thing I didn't understand is why the room had no carpet? I guess we just like it that way, for the price. It was a last minute decision to go so we had limited places for us to pick from. We still thought it was a good place to spend a few days.

Friendly staff. Good rooms. Handy location.

The staff were friendly and attentive at all times. Rooms are a good size and comfortable. Parking is easily accessible and covered (basement). Decent eateries within walking distance (Beach Grass was good for breakfast. Walking distance to beach. Overall decent value.

This hotel made me feel welcome

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
This hotel was located in an excellant location, with beach access and just a short walk to dog beach, a must for dog lovers, even though you left your pouch at home. Located on Coastal 101, you avoid the traffic of the Interstate and can enjoy the beautiful ride from San Diego along the coast, discovering the delightful towns along the way. From Solana Beach you can continue North along 101, and discover the small cafes and shops in Cardiff by the Sea, Encenita, Carlsbad and Oceanside. The hotel staff met all our requests, from giving us a room courtside, upstairs with a balcony, to allowing us a late check out of 2pm, with no additional charge. More bonus points for a Starbucks on site, and a delightful outside sitting area with a fireplace, not to mention a heated pool and hot tub! Biking, jogging and hiking are just waiting to be enjoyed, as well as, shopping and dining! It's guaranteed that we will return!
