I was charmed by the Ellery. It's an old-world kind of hotel that reminds me (in the nicest way) of hotels in England in the 1970s. It's in easy walking distance of the Smith College campus, which is great if your visit involves the college (ours did). The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms don't have the "mod cons" one might expect in a contemporary hotel (e.g. no shelf in the shower for toiletries). My husband uses a CPAP machine, which is common these days, and we were worried the outlet was too far from the nightstand to make this work, but it ended up being fine. Overall, I would recommend The Ellery. We had a wonderful time there, and if you are up for an old-fashioned inn, this is a great place.
