Upon entering the room, we were shocked. The property was old and far below expectations from the photos and description online. Although I had called in advance to inform them of our late flight time, no one was on duty upon our arrival, but our driver located an envelope with my name on it and the key inside. We have never stayed anywhere so completely devoid of a sense of security and safety. The kitchenette was extremely old with an old hot plate and a microwave. There was a sign to not operate them at the same time. Initially, the toilet would not flush, but when the plumber arrived, of course it worked. The exterior was lacked lighting. I managed to secure other lodging and we left within hours of arriving. I suppose some might find it all acceptable, but in our opinion, it was not as advertised and was unacceptable. Huge disappointment.

We are very sorry to hear that this was not expected, we have always been told that the pictures are very accurate and most people are thrilled with the cleanliness of our budget property. We are not sure what website you went to but the Expedia website and our website www.meridianinn.com have very accurate pictures .Our description, along with your several phones calls we told you that we did not operate a 24 hour desk and that our taxi you booked, would help you check in.We wish that things didnt go wrong but they do and we make all efforts to fix these. That is why the Owner ( who has lots of plumbing and maintenance experience) rushed down immediately at 1.00 am when you called, to check on your toilet. Our hot plates are frequently changed, not more than a year old and yes overload is a thing on ourlittle island.We do find it unfortunate that you did not understand the our advertising which says " budget, affordable, 2 star accommodation." Also if compared to the other properties which advertise as 3 star and up, on the island it would be understood.We do hope you enjoyed Barbados!

I had the PentHouse apartment and I totally enjoyed the view of the beach and the fact that I could sit outside and enjoy the seabreeze.

Nice hotel close to the Beach
I emailed ahead to do a late checkin & it was no problem. It was a great location, close to the beach & bars.Clean & quiet. The staff was helpful when I had inquiries about the public transportation & directions.I would stay here again.

Very clean and cozy. Nice friendly staff. They will go out of the way to make you feel special. They palnned a surprise b-day party on the El Tigre cruise for my dad.
Close to the St. Lawrence gap night life and action but not too close.
The Dover beach nearby should be avoided if you are not a strong swimmer.

You WIN staying at the MERIDIAN INN!
WHERE TO STAY?? I asked myself this repeatedly while researching for my recent visit to Barbados.I knew I would need a secure place within my budget, close to the action and beaches . The previous reviews lead me towards the Meridian Inn. Although still hesitant and skeptical; I made my booking for two and headed there on 03 Jan 2012. I was met with a vision of a yellow/cream colored hotel that oozed rustic comfort much to my delight. The small lobby area, opened 8am to 5pm, was staffed with one of the most helpful and friendliest person I had ever met in my long travel history. We got armed with all the relevant tips for a fun filled stay at the island. Then we were directed to our room. Although it is not 4-5 star high end, it is equipped with more than the bare essentials for comfort, utility, and security. At a glance I could see a brand new A/C unit, a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, ring burner stove, a neat bathroom, and a king size bed. Outside my room from the balcony, furnished with a table and two chairs, I approximated 15 other similar rooms at the Inn. Even the cleaners, who ensured a well tidied and spotless room daily, were helpful to answer any questions or give advice.
Back at the lobby, I was assisted to plan my excursions, book my car rental based on their reference, and was provided the numbers of two reliable cab drivers.
Points to note:
1) The Merridian is located in the St. Lawrence Gap which makes for walking distance access to great restaurants, a grocery, pubs and clubs. We walked comfortably and safely to and from the hotel to experience Bajan nightlife as late as 2:00am.
2) The adjourning restautrant, The Dover Hotel, is also great and outfitted with a pool and restaurant which can also be used at reasonable costs by Meridian guests.
3) The Dover beach is a 2 min walk from the hotel, which is a beautiful view. However, the ocean was too undulating on those days for our liking and so we took public transport for only BB$2 each to the nearby west coast beaches which were amazing and very picturesque .
The manager/owner of the Meridian is a true gentleman but is overshadowed by his staff complement of cheerful ladies.
I summarise with my caption; a cheap hotel which is cozy and so very conviently located!
My girlfriend and I felt like winners staying at the Meridian Inn having our 4 nights Barbados experience.

The hotel is close to the beach and in a great location for restaurants.
The front desk has limited hours. We arrived at the hotel at midnight. The check in process was actually easier than some hotels that have front desk personnel 24 hours/day.

awesome little hotel
I very much enjoyed my stay here. The hotel does not have many amenities but its cheap price makes up for it. It is small, rooms were a good size and had a full kitchenette and balcony with table. The sheets and towels were a little worn, but everything was very clean and the cleaning ladies did a great job. The staff there was helpful and helped us set up a few excursions. The air conditioner was my only complaint, it wasn't cool and was like a second fan in the room.
The area the hotel is in is great- the St. Lawrence Gap if filled with other hotels, many restaurants, small shops, nightlife and the beach is a 2 minute walk away. This hotel is at one end of The Gap so it never got too noisy. The Dover Beach hotel is next door. They have a nice balcony by the pool (just walk straight through the hotel) overlooking the ocean. Next to the balcony is a small restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is reasonably priced. Our trip was topped off when we checked out and the owner drove us and our luggage to the airport because he had to go nearby.
I highly recommend this hotel for a cheap vacation!
