    Quaint and cozy

This is not like your chain hotel. This little place has character and personality. Sure our room was small, but it was big enough, cozy and comfortable. The furnishings were attractive and not institutional. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. The downtown location invited you to get out and walk through the neighborhood and down to the beach. Delicious breakfast was included. Free parking on the street right in front of the inn was always available during our stay, and Free parking was also available in back. We did not use the the on site restaurant and bar, so I cannot comment on them. Not sure whether to call Peninsula Inn a small hotel or a big bed and breakfast. It was the best of both. If we return to this area, we will definitely try to stay here again.

This is a lovely old hotel in a great location in downtown Gulfport, a wonderful little town. It has a nice bar and a good restaurant which is open only for dinner. I stayed for a week and had many meals at the restaurant and drinks in the bar. Really liked Truman, the male bartender. Most of the staff is very friendly and very helpful, though the man tending the front desk was on the glum side. Breakfast is included with the room rate, with a nice fruit salad, pastries and toaster items, juice and a daily "baked omelette" which I did not enjoy. There is a splendid breakfast restaurant across the street which I often opted for. My room was small but satisfactory (I know they have larger rooms), on the third floor, though it was once overlooked by the housekeeping staff, and very often not tended to till later in the afternoon. They may not have enough staff in housekeeping. A high pipe in my room needed dusting badly, but most people would probably not notice. All in all, I would recommend this hotel. I understand it is under new management, and some of these kinks may be worked out soon. Again, bar, restaurant both good and worth a visit even if staying elsewhere.
