We Love this Slice of Paradise

Pros: Quiet, secluded beautiful beach
We first visited Bluebeard's in February of 2007 and fell in love with the quaint comfort of this resort. It isn't the Ritz, but we don't pay $400 per night either - the beach is beautiful - the rooms are adequate with kitchens, bathroom, sleeping area, sitting area and balcony. Every room overlooks the ocean and wonderful grounds. There is a swim up bar where you can get awesome Bushwhackers while enjoying a tropical paradise from the comfort of your submerged bar stool. Yes, there are iguanas, but you will find them everywhere in St. Thomas, if you don't like them, don't go to the tropics. Yes there are cats, the resort allows the Humane Society to put out food and fresh water daily for the cats, in return, the Humane Society provides TNR (trap, neuter, release) services and feeds the animals, and the cats have all but eliminated any rodents that one might find along the ocean - without using poisons - a valuable service. The resort is a timeshare and we bought there after our first visit - since then, we've purchased a second week. The rooms in Bldgs A&B are scheduled for renovation this fall - and the rest will be done next year. I don't know why people get so uptight about the rooms, we use them to sleep and shower - the rest of the time, we're on the beach or at the pool or visiting one of the hundreds of beautiful beaches in the USVI. None of the rooms have carpeting so I'm not sure what one of the previous posters was talking about. Some tips: rent a car - driving on the left is easy once you get used to it. Visit St. John, you can take the ferry over for $50 r/t for the vehicle and everyone in it (not Hertz but all other rentals allow you to go to STJ). The Island Market has decent food - we just buy enough for our two weeks and make breakfast and sandwiches in the room to take to the beach. We use the grill area to make supper at least 2 or 3 nights - the rest we go out to eat. St. Thomas is a beautiful island and our slice of Paradise - I can't wait to go back in February - only 150 days away!

Recent Stay 10/8/10-10/16/10

Room is OK carpet is very old and smelled like mildew. Had to purchase candels to make room smell better. Lot's of cats all over the place (they feed them, Cat Cafe) also if you don't like Iguana's this is not the place for you. They don't bother you but they are very visible. There were practically no activities available onsite you have to sign up with outside excursions which is fine we enjoyed WOW. All in all Bluebeard was clean and the beach in right there, walk out of your room and walk a very short distance. Very quite. No dining available. You could purchase food at the pool bar. A few days they had someone come in and offer breakfast and dinner buffets.

Bluebeards Beach Club

Nice location in need of some serious updating. Units are OK. Some people gripe about the cats and the Iguanas, no big deal. They are harmless and the Iguanas arefun to watch. Units arre OK and Victoria, the Activities Director is excellent. Some of the desk and check in staff also need updating if you get my drift. The pool is fun, the views are great and the individual units are OK. A pleasant place with nice people staying there. Fun to watch the cruise ships go past as they enter or leave Charlotte Amalie.
