The property was beautiful, rooms were comfy, housekeeping was very good. The pool service and other restaurants were awful. There was a toilet issue at the pool restaurant which was rancid. They never fixed it. There was constant miscommunication with the front desk. Getting into the gym was told to get a key from them than they said you have to go to the spa. This kind of thing went on thru the trip. Running around to different departments.

JW Marriott Guanacaste was very clean & polite. Food was reasonably priced, pool was def the highlight! Ocean veiw room w/tub looking out to patio was also a highlight.. Downside very secluded we rented a car for convience to go into Tamarindo where there was much more life. Beach was very dirty also horses on beach. JW beach was MUCH more nice & clean.

Great hotel, as expected from a JW. Only two of the 4 treadmills worked if you are interested in running inside their gym, other than that it was perfect. Access to certain rooms was a long walk from the pool even though they over look the pool. Staff is great, very helpful all the time. Booked two rooms on two reservations due to a Travelocity issue not a hotel issue and were separated but this was not the hotels issue and they did all they could to get us closer together. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Absolutely Lovely!!!

Pros: Everything! The staff, the rooms, nice gym, beautiful pool, the ground.
Cons: The concierge/guest service desk.
Location: Nothing nearby-which was perfect for what I was looking for.
Such a wonderful place to stay!!! Beautiful, clean, well maintained. The rooms were large, nicely decorated, and perfectly cleaned. The staff was amazing and knew me by name. The restaurants were good/decent. I came during the off-season so some of them were closed. The pool was gorgeous. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone visiting the area to stay here as well!! The only thing that I wasn't impressed with was the guest service/concierge. I needed help finding transport to my next destination and they offered me the Enterprise they have onsite. I didn't want to rent a car and they kind of just shrugged their shoulders and didn't offer any more help. Even with that, I would stay here again.

I have a mixed feeling about this hotel .

First, if you are young and looking to have fun do not come to this hotel . This hotel has no enetertainment ! Nothing , except the pools and the rocky beach , not even a movie channel ! I regret not reading the negative reviews before coming in . As for me I have mixed feelings about this hotel . When I initially arrived I booked for a garden view room with two full bed . There was no garden, just a haystack of unmaintined landscape! The hotel surrounding had minimal landscape that is maintained . It was so hideous , I upgraded to an ocean view for additional cost . The ocean view was beautiful and the hotel front desk was extremely friendly and accommodating . The hotel interior is maintained well and it's breathtaking . However, for a Marriott I expected the exterior to have immaculate Landcape as well . Next the food . The hotel is tucked away so the next decent restaraunt is at least 25 minutes away . That means you are often left with no choice but to dine out of its 4 restaraunt. The first night I dined at the pool side Italian restaraunt . The workers were very rude and the food took over an hour to come. Overall it was a terrible experience . Everyone around us was also dispeleased with the staff . The next night we dined at the Asian restaraunt and by far our experience was a 360 degree contrast . Staff was fast, absolutely amazing and the food ! We enjoyed the pool and the ocean view , but coming from Florida it wasn't something that was worth so much money !

Great Vacation

Pros: Service was awesome.
We stayed at the JW Marriott in Guanacaste Costa Rica in February, 2017. The hotel was big and beautiful. Everyone at the hotel was kind, friendly and very helpful. They all understood English and helped us with our Spanish. The hotel was clean. The pool area was big and beautiful. The beach was clean but rocky. The security at the hotel was great, not that it was needed. And last but not least the food was great. There were four or five restaurants and we ate at all but one. The food and service at the Steakhouse was Excellent, Carlos was very friendly and respectful. I would stay here again and I would recommend this hotel to others.

Absolutely amazing!!!

Pros: Oceanfront view and beautiful architecture
Cons: It was a little hard to find your way around the hotel because it was so large
Location: Great location! 25 minutes from Tamarindo and most excursions pick you directly up from the hotel lobby
We came here for my boyfriends 30th birthday and could not be happier with the accommodations. The staff was phenomenal, the food was exquisite, and the views were unreal. We loved this location and will definitely be back!

Everything but the wifi was amazing.

Cons: The internet and wifi.
Room was clean and nice. Facilities were clean and nice. Pool and beach access were great. Workout facilities were nice. It's a bit removed from the hustle and streets and it feels like a tucked away spot that's very calm. Everything was great except for the internet, which we kept having problems with.
