More Information:
Matei is a beautiful little beach town. Vale Sekoula is a gated villa with lush tropical gardens. Our beach town is easy to get around with a few markets for groceries and a few restaurants in walking distance. You will really like Tramonto's restaurant and Coconut Grove restaurant which are on the water just minutes away. Taxis and buses are available to tour the island if you like. You can also rent your own car if you like. Our Villa is just a 3 min walk across to the runway for your convenience. roughly 2-3 planes a day arrive in Matei.
More highlights:
Free Kayaking from the house. Free Snorkel gear to use at the house. 2 Double Person Kayaks and 2 paddleboards. Paddle out to honeymoon island!
Amazing views, sandy beaches, waterfalls and some of the friendliest people on earth all make Taveuni an unforgettable experience. Your own private pool and beach, you really won't want to leave. There are 4 small islands just a short paddle from our villa where you can take the kayaks out to explore. On the third island you will find a nice white sand beach to pull up on and have a picnic or just relax, you will almost be guaranteed to have it all to yourself. (Honeymoon Island) The snorkeling from here is also very nice! We can arrange surf trips to one of the world famous surf breaks just a 30 minute boat ride from the house. Maqai is one of Taveuni’s most consistent surf breaks. If you prefer a scuba diving trip, we do offer the world famous rainbow reef dives. If you just want to relax and snorkel, we can schedule a wonderful snorkeling tour. Taveuni is also famous for its sports fishing for Tuna, Wahoo and many other catches of a life time. The house also has a small fishing boat if you prefer to have Robert our caretaker take you fishing, snorkeling or dolphin watching. Lots of waterfalls to explore, hiking and even a natural waterslide for those who love adventure.

Wow! So much to see and do on Taveuni. And Vale Sakoula is the ideal place to stay. Reasonably priced, and outstanding personal care from Vinna, our housekeeper.
Aggie was our guide for incredible excursions that are beyond description. Amazing hikes to waterfalls that were like hiking in Jurassic Park, but without the predators!
The climate is very warm and humid, so having our very own pool to cool off in made it so much better. And the pool is a great spot to catch a beautiful sunrise and moon rise.
The night sky provides incredible stargazing of stars and constellations I had never seen from the Northern Hemisphere. Only a quick walk down the steps to the shoreline and you will find kayaks waiting for you to adventure out to nearby islands were you can snorkel the beautiful coral reefs. And the snorkel gear is provided at the house for your use. The house is very comfortable and full of Fijian art. Don't worry about charging your laptop, phone, or camera, there are plenty converters available.
The local area has great places to eat, or you can pick up some food at a local store and cook in the fully equipped kitchen or gas barbecue. Or you can arrange for Vinna to cook for you. The locals are so friendly and go out of their way to take care of you. I did not want to leave. Put this on your bucket list!

Not sure how else to explain our stay at Vale Sekoula besides the 3 nights we stayed were nothing short of exceptional! Robert was at the airport to meet us and help us with our luggage just a extremely short walk (maybe 1 minute walk) to the home. Once we walked through the gate you could tell the pride/care that has gone into the landscaping and gardens. The house sits over looking the beautiful Pacific with absolutely stunning sun rises! This home has all the amenities you need. The binder provided also has a ton of great information in it as well from local attractions to places to dine out. Vinna who is also one of the care takers of the home can also prepare meals for you. Although we didn’t use this service but we definitely will the next time and thought this was just an added bonus. The view from the bedroom is breathtaking especially in the morning with the sun rises. You couldn’t ask for a better view or place. This is the best vacation home we’ve ever been too and will be returning! Venna shared tomatoes from her garden as well as offered to help with anything we needed to make our stay more enjoyable. It’s very nice that they provided water, fruit, towels, bug spray, and all the other necessities! Also, we enjoyed having the option of watching some of the dvds and/or books from the home! Thank you again!

A lovely sheltered villa that would easily sleep 4. Stunning sunrise views, warm pool, beach front to explore, and most everything you need for a self-catered stay. Though we recommend the housekeeper's cooking. Walking distance from the airport and mid-way for exploration of beautiful Taveuni in either direction.

Vale Sekoula was the perfect place for us to stay on Taveuni. Don't let the fact that there are not many reviews scare you away. This place is a slice of paradise. Located literally across the street from the airport it is in a good central location which is in between the Booma waterfalls and the sliding rock/main portion of the town. The caretaker Vinna is so kind and was so helpful at arranging rides and accomodations. We also had her cook a local Fijian meal one of the nights which was absolutely delicious. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous with access to a nice beach and 2 Kayaks that you can take out to the islands in the distance. One one of our mornings we took the Kayaks out to the third island and experienced some of the best snorkeling we had experienced in all of Fiji and for that matter in all of the world. If we would have had more time we would have loved to spend an entire day relaxing at the house and adventuring out to the various islands. The pool was also perfect to relax in and there is an amazing view from it. If you do stay make sure to turn off all of the lights one night and look at the stars. They were breathtaking with little to no light pollution. One thing to note is that there is no AC which means it can get warm at night, but because the island is so small I don't think you can really expect AC in most places you would stay. Ceiling fans are nice! Taveuni was our favorite island we went to in Fiji and we would highly recommend taking a trip to experience the beauty of it for yourself. Best, Jason

Beautiful view overlooking the ocean. Only a 2 minute walk from the airport. (Which there are max 2 flights a day so no disruption at all nearly). House is good, pool is great.

Other things to note:
You are probably already aware that Taveuni is a more rural tropical destination. There are chickens, roosters and a few dogs in Matei so it is likely you will hear them in the mornings or sometimes at night. Taveuni is the "garden isle" of the Fiji islands so a few rain showers during the day is not uncommon. Also keep in mind that Fiji is in the tropics so it is common to see Geckos around and every now in then in the house, but they are cute and harmless. We are on solar power, so quiet generators may kick on if needed, but they are far from the home in a small power house shed away from the house.

Amazing house and amazing caretakers
Simply wonderful home in a great location, the views are beautiful! The caretakers, Vinna and Robert, were great and helped us in so many ways and can even cook dinners for you and deliver them to the house, which was great as there were not many restaurants open in the off season when we were there. Vinna was so caring and comassionate when one of our party became ill she accompanied her to the hospital and back to the villa. I also had mistakenly left a carry-on item at the Nadi airport and Vinna sent her cousin to retrieve it and arrange it to come to the island on the flight the next day. The villa also has kyacks available to use which was a great day trip out to some close by islands. We took advantage of them and packed a lunch and our snorkeling gear and headed out. The snorkeling around island 3 & 4 was fantastic and island three has a small beach and we had it all to ourselves.

2023 Return to Vale Sekoula
Here's the deal: Very friendly home, neatly kept, phenomenal location, great views, fantastic new deck over the water, appropriately priced, well-equipped, etc., etc. This was our 2nd stay at Vale Sekoula and we booked our 3rd for next year before we left LAX for this visit. I highly recommend this property. If it were mine to manage, I would not change anything...other than plan to visit more frequently than we do. Respectfully, Lisa and Adam

Already planning to come back
We loved our stay in so many ways, it's hard to know where to start! Vale Sekoula is a spacious, very liveable house in a quiet location with a beautiful garden, lovely pool and amazing sea views - it would have been easy to spend our whole time there. The kitchen is well equipped and local stores, although small, have plenty of supplies for self-catering if that's what you want to do. The location also answered to our version of Tourism to a T - it's a very relaxed neighbourhood that is easy to wander about, meeting more locals than tourists, and you can opt in or out of tourist activities as much as you like. Vinaka vakalevu especially to Vinna and Robert for the warm welcome and being so helpful and kind during our stay. We are already discussing when we can come back!

Our stay at Vale Sekoula was everything we hoped for. Relaxing, beautiful, clean and more :-)
Our stay at Vale Sekoula was everything we hoped for. From the beginning being greeted by Robert the house manager and guided around the property we immediately slipped into holiday mode and relished the amazing views, the garden, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling and fabulous local hospitality. Visiting Taveuni is the authentic Fiji. We couldn't have wished for a more relaxing holiday. A 10 minute walk along the road planted with amazing tropical plants.....to local restaurants and dive operators was a walk in the park. We highly recommend Vale Seloula and will return in the near future. A huge thanks to Tony, Katie and family, Robert and Vinnie :-)

I could go on and on about how much we loved this place!! Tony and Katie have a slice of heaven on earth! They think of everything you would need and more. Then you have their caretakers; Robert and Vinna who give you space but are there when you need them too. Don't even second guess booking this place, just do it!

Vale soukala was a wonderful place to spend a week. The owner Tony was very communicative setting up our vacation. Robert and Vinna, the caretakers were very wonderful people providing transportation to surrounding highlights and markets. Taveuni is very rural and quiet. The house is top notch and very well appointed w traditional fijian artworks. Good restaurants closeby offering traditional and other food options. The hikes to falls and the ocean hike was spectacular. The snorkeling at rainbow reef was unvelievable and worth every penny. Warning: you will forever be spoiled bybthe snorkeling, diving, and friendly fijian culture. It is a slow and third world in many ways but first world in others. We will be back. Lived this place.

A dream stay in Taveuni
Bula! There is so much to love about Taveuni and this property. The house is in the perfect location for seeing both sides of the island and walking distance to small grocery stores and restaurants. We loved the pool and oceanfront deck and used the kayaks every day. Vinna and Robert were so kind and set us up with our guide Germain who was fantastic and showed us so much cool stuff on the island. He hung out with us for Kava night at Dive cafe and we had so much fun laughing with him every day. Loved the Lavena Coastal walk so much and we had the waterfall at the end all to ourselves. The snorkeling at the island off the coast from the property is incredible, so much coral and fish and my husband was able to catch fish off the kayak. Dont miss the little orange ice cream stand down the street from the house, it has the best home made sorbet type ice creams and you can also buy fresh kava and spices there too. Tony was so helpful before our visit, answering questions and giving fishing tips. The house has nearly all the cooking items one would need (we made breakfast there every day) and has a small supply of coffee & spices. We drank the tap water all week and had no issues whatsoever though bottled water is available. Just trying to cut down on unnecessary plastic since there isn't much recycling on such a small island. Overall, we had an incredible time. I can't wait to come back and bring some friends along to paradise. Vinaka!

Loved our time at Vale Sekoula!
We spent 10 days on beautiful Taveuni. After a week of diving from an all-inclusive resort, we opted to spend out last three days relaxing at a private house. Vale Sekoula was beyond our expectations. Check-in/out was super easy and all communications were prompt and complete. The house is nicely appointed with everything we could want. We cooked breakfast at the Vale and ate dinners out. We lived on the back patio; the pool and covered patio were fantastic. And what a view! We would love to return with the whole family. It's a great house in a great location. The house and property are very private while close to services and the airport. (And don't worry about airport noise; there are only a few planes a day. The sounds will make you smile after you have flown into this small regional airport.) Vinaka!
