The entire campus is just beautiful. Loved the outside fire pit near the Lodge. Enjoyed a golf lesson and was able to hit balls form the indoor bays. Highly recommend a lesson with one of the pro's. We had Patrick who was very good. Only negative is the spa waiting room , needs updated. But the service was very good all around.

Mediocre at best, and WAY over priced.

Stayed at the Lodge. Room decor was very outdated. Bathroom had been updated a little bit was was just okay. Bed was below avg. Very large resort. Outdated though and a bit cheesy. Not as well maintained and clean as you'd expect for the price. Food at Tavern was just average and they sat us in what looked like a lobby next to the ice cream parlor. Terrible setting. Ended up going to Falling Rock to eat/hang out 2 out of 3 nights because it was much nicer than the Lodge/Chateau. The fancy French restaurant looked stuffy and outdated. Rooms at Falling Rock are much more pricey though. Mystic Rock golf course was very good and in great condition. Forcaddie was very good as well. They messed up my rate so I paid much less than rack rate, so not even sure what the normal cost is. Went to Omni Bedford Springs 2 years ago and it was MUCH nicer and better value. Won't be back.

Tons of fun activities with average service, poor value for money

Cons: No free Internet, Poor breakfast, not updated
My family has been traveling to Nemacolin Woodlands for the past 15 years at various time of the year enjoying the Shooting Academy, the spa, the activity center and the skiing. We have not stayed at the resort since the downturn in the economy in 2008. It appears Nemacolin management has cut back on maintaining the property overall as well as reducing the staff level and food quality, unfortunately without adjusting the prices. If the resort priced it self as a 3 star resort or charged the same 5 star lodging prices but did not charge for every single activity(I am surprised the did not charge to watch the sunset) than the value for price might be more in line. Maybe the resort should cut out some activities or services to improve and master only certain ones. The only place up to par was the shooting academy with the Orvis fly fishing guides. The amount of activities overall make the resort a consideration for a trip, just make sure you get a group discount and don't set your expectations to high on service and definitely not food quality.

Kind of like Disneyland in the middle of PA...

I went to Nemacolin for Thanksgiving with my family. We had two rooms right next to each other. Both were in the Lodge portion of the resort and were well appointed with very comfortable beds. The arrival was nothing special -- was expecting a "Happy Thanksgiving" as it was Thanksgiving day, but didn't get one. Approached the Front Desk where I was stared at by a female Front Desk Agent named Sam. I have worked in luxury hotels for the past six years, most recently as a Front Office Manager so I understand how hard it is to work during the Holidays. However, there was no "welcome" -- not even a "hello." At one point I was confused as I thought I might not be at the check-in desk. It was about 10 AM, so I expected the room was not going to be ready, but I was attempting to register nonetheless. I initiated the conversation with a "Hello, we'd like to try and check in" at which point I was greeted with a very rude and abrupt "We'll see if it's ready." It was extremely off-putting and didn't set a good tone for the weekend. To top things off, the room ended up being ready -- so it was a lot of attitude for nothing! Other than Sam's extreme rudeness, the rest of the Staff was very kind and helpful. The Thanksgiving Brunch was delicious and a brisk walk down to the Adventure Center provided a great 'post-turkey' stroll. The Spa was very relaxing and homey. I wouldn't say it was 5 stars, but it was definitely enjoyable. All five guests traveling with me had treatments and it was fun to spend the afternoon together in the pool, whirlpool, and steamroom/sauna. Overall I'd say it was a fun and relaxing getaway. I'd say going over the Holidays is probably the best time -- I'm sure it's amazing in the Summer, but it just screams 'holiday hide-out' to me!

average

Pros: Free Internet, good spa, food was excellent, lot of activities to do
Cons: Noisy, poor service indifferent attitude bad concierge, rude staff at times., expensive for kind of hotel and service, uncomfortble bed and pillows
Was excited to go to this resort. Have mixed feelings about it. The resort is spread out and the signs are not well displayed. Difficult to find your way around. Not enough staff to help. Overall staff is good but indifferent ,which you do not expect from a resort which claims to be five star but in service and friendliness of staff much worse than Hampton inn. None of the staff had attitude of service with smile. Everyone appeared to be indifferent and have an attitude that they do not care because they are busy.

This hotel made me feel welcome and bathed in luxury

Pros: Quiet, hotel has everything
I love Nemacolin! Not only is the hotel filled with history, art, and beautiful shops and restaurants, but the grounds are beautiful and surrounded by mountains and trees. Their spa is one of the best I've been to with its Feng Shui features and relaxing all women's hot tub area. I stayed at The Lodge, and my room was spacious and comfortable with nice smelling soaps. It was also close to the spa and Starbucks shop! The staff was also friendly and helpful!
