This was our first visit to Venice and we booked this hotel based on customer reviews. We were not disappointed. What a lovely place to stay. We arrived early but were allowed to leave our bags until check-in time. When we returned our bags were already taken to our room for us. The room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The breakfast was delightful and had quite a variety. The hotel is located in a very nice area, close to many of the major "tourist" attractions but far enough away to feel like you're soaking in the local flavor. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Venice.

Antico Doge .. heart of Venice

This was our first trip to Venice and we had no idea where to stay. Many of the hotels seemed old and pricey on the internet. We found Antico Doge after searching for an affordable, but well reviewed hotel and we booked it for 2 nights. We arrived in Venice in the dark and with very little directions, but a short water shuttle to the Rialto Bridge, and a few blocks around the corner and we found it. Very centrally located and convenient. The hotel has a exterior wood door and interior glass doors and a long corridor that leads to the simple reception desk. We were greeted warmly and brought to our room and given an excellent recommendation for a fine Venetian restaurant (not too pricey) around the corner. We were thrilled after a long journey to Venice. Our room was set up for a triple, very simple but clean and well lit. The bathroom was small but modern with typical Italian marble. The breakfast was decent. The breakfast room was elegant with interesting paintings and furniture. You really felt like you were dining in the home of a rich venetian family. On our final day we got more good recommendations for dining and directions on how to get to the water shuttle to the airport. This was a very good experience and I would recommend Antico Doge for an reasonable priced hotel in an excellent location of Venice.
