The hosts were wonderful and recommended dining options. They additional had fresh cake with coffee and tea available all day. The grounds are nice with a short walking trail. Our only issue was a slightly moldy smell, which I imagine is to be expected considering the age of the castle.

It is always pleasant to receive more than expected and Killiane Castle delivered that in spades. The 15th century castle is spectacular and the 17th century manor house (where we stayed) was so beautiful and comfortable. We had a delightful walk around the grounds last night and was able to peak in on some of the ruins of the castle. Since this is a sustainable farm, all of the breakfast fixings came from property. Delicious! A staff member recommended The Farmers Kitchen at the entrance to the property for dinner and, like the castle itself, we were not disappointed. Excellent experience all around.

Property consists of 2 types of units - standard rooms in the main building (basically like a B&B in an older home; and apartments in a separate building across the courtyard from the main building. The current complex is built into the walls of a ruined castle. This facility sits in the midst of an active dairy farm. We stayed in one of the apartments. Very nice and quite spacious. We had a sitting room with a small table for eating, a small but full service kitchen well stocked with the essentials, a sizeable bedroom, and a bathroom. Everything was clean and comfortable (except the pillows—rock hard foam). Furnishings are a danish modern sort of style. I suspect the rooms in the main building carry older style furnishings. They offer breakfast but it wasn’t part of our rate so we skipped it. They are apparently quite proud of what they do though. Very, very quiet. Hospitable hosts, ability to walk the grounds and tour the farm. Close to town but definitely in the country so there’s no highway or city noise at all. This is a great place if you want to be away from it all and enjoy quiet country life.

It was perfect. Besides feeling like one of the family, I felt like some sort of aristocracy. Extremely lovely property owned and operated by the kindest people I think I've ever met. They could not do enough for us. And of course, the grounds are gorgeous

One word - PERFECT

Pros: Everything
We arrived just after 3:00pm and was greeted by Kathleen. She showed us around the lovely home and to our room, which was absolutely perfect! We immediately took off for the farm walk where we were greeted by a beautiful blonde retriever who just wanted to be sure we had fun and didn't get lost! Upon our return to the house we saw a worker applying grout on the outside of the castle. He invited us to tour the castle which was soo fun! We went all the way to the top...apparently the folks back in the 16th century were quite small as both my husband and I had to climb some of the stairs sideways. Kathleen recommended a local pub for dinner where we watched a bit of the football game, had some beers and yummy Irish food. Our room was decorated so beautifully and was spacious! The bathroom was quite modern and huge! And the toilet paper was soft.....may seem silly to mention that, but it goes to show the detail they put into making sure their guests are comfortable. Breakfast was absolutely delicious! If you go here and are not happy it is your fault....Killiane Castle Country House and Farm is PERFECT!
