8 days at the Shangri-La Hotel in Fiji

Pros: The staff were amazing. The beach was great.

Cons: Milk in the rooms, lowering the prices of food and drink around the pool. Having more beach towels available.

Location: We caught the local bus into Sigatoka, saw the temples and had 2 great meals.

My husband and I found this hotel on the website. It looked for the ideal relaxing holiday that we were looking for. The hotel is old but they are in the process of renovating so this was really not an issue. The rooms were clean and the staff were all amazing. We found the cost of everything extremely high. To pay FJD9.00 for a coffee and $17.00 for a glass of house wine was unexpected. When we had dinner the final cost was far higher than we anticipated by the time all the taxes and other charges had been added. We do not have young children and went to the hotel to relax. It would be good if the hotel asked whether or not guests wanted a room away form the daily children's activities of cricket, soccer and other loud shouting events. The children had a great time with the wonderful hotel staff but people in the near-by rooms did not. If you are trying to have an afternoon sleep, forget it. I also love my cup of tea in the morning. As there was no milk I took a small bottle (that had water in) and took some milk at the breakfast. I was stopped on my way out and asked to read the sign at the desk that says no food is to be taken from the breakfast room. Then supply milk in the rooms or at least ask guests if they would like milk in their room as happens in most other international hotels I have stayed in. So...did we enjoy our holiday? Absolutely. Will be go back to this hotel? I doubt it.

Awesome Hotel!

Really nice place, a little too far from the airport for comfort especially for a taxi ride. The price of food was a little high. The amount of kids was crazy. The staff was amazing.

Family friendly, wonderful attentive staff

Pros: Check in and Check out was made easy. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

Cons: Communication with activities in the resort.

Location: There is so much to do on the island. White water rafting and zip lining. They have a great little office near the shops where you can book it all.

The resort is well kept, and although there are current renovations happening by the main pool. If youre located far from that area you can't hear the construction. I would have much rather had more notice on activities, that is the only thing I did not see that was promoted. I had to call the front desk to get all that info. Otherwise food was great and many options for kids and families. There are local villages where you can purchase water or fruit and snacks for your day trips. The pools were well kept and activities for the kids kept them entertained. Would stay here again.
