Description

Take a trip back into time and visit one of the last remaining functioning cocoa estates. Belmont is located in a visually stunning setting and offers a fascinating history from three centuries of production. Observe the processing of cocoa, taste cocoa tea, and just experience the magic of this jewel.

After hotel or port pickup by air-conditioned vehicle, you head to the first stop, the Grand E'tang nature reserve. Enjoy the breathtaking views, and keep an eye out for the mona monkey, which is indigenous to this area. If you're lucky, you may spot one or two. When you arrive, hop off and explore the area. Just take some time to enjoy the peaceful rainforest surroundings. Then hop back in the vehicle to drive through the village of Harford. Next stop will be Belmont Heritage Estate. Here we'll enjoy an historic and interesting visit to this traditional cocoa plantation, which dates back to the 1700's. There is a veritable living museum you may wish to visit. With the help of an estate guide, you will learn about present Grenadian and former Scottish owners.

After a 40-minute tour with the estate guide, you can enjoy a delicious lunch as we acquaint ourselves with traditional plantation life. Allow yourself to relax for about 45 minutes before we visit the River Antoine Rum Distillery on Grenada’s northeast coast, before heading back to your hotel or the cruise ship terminal.

Excellent lunch, probably the best Carrot Cake I have ever had. Meshach gave wonderful informative tour of the property. Tony with Vision Tours who got us there gave us a wonderful tour of the island on the way, answered all our questions about Grenada and the history of the island
