What you can expect

Kuala Selangor is a 90-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur and offers plenty to discover, especially for those who wish to have an experience of Malaysian rural life. Fishing and farming are the main occupations here and a large part of the area is cultivated with oil palm and rubber.

Upon arrival, enjoy a guided visit around a Chinese fishing village where the houses are built on stilts. As evening falls, tuck into a sumptuous Chinese seafood dinner and choose from the catch of the day. Then comes the highlight of the evening, watching fireflies. Board a boat as you are rowed upstream to pitch perfect blackness to view thousands of fireflies flickering like Christmas lights in the mangrove trees lining the banks of the river. After this remarkable spectacle, return to Kuala Lumpur city.
